Ghost Town Living

Thank you all for an amazing launch week for my book! The response has been really heartwarming and I appreciate all of you who have sent messages of support and encouragement. It seems people are really enjoying it, which is awesome to feel after the work put in.

If you've read it at this point, what is your favorite part? Is there a part you were most surprised by? I'm curious!

Again, thank you so much and can't wait to show you the fun projects we have coming up in 2024!

I didn't want it to end! I definitely want more! I'm on my second read now. The best part is having watched your channel since month 3. I've adventured with you, laughed with you, and cried with you. Keep up the amazing work Brent! You're the best part of Cerro Gordo!

I'm almost finished with the book. I love the full descriptions of the people who've come to help. For example: "John Wayne from the neck up". There have been a few things that made me giggle. But mostly, I love the honesty & openness of the stories you are telling. It's not easy to be that honest with yourself or others. I know that personally. But it is so worth it. Great job. I hope I get a chance to stay at the American Hotel some day. Thank you for sharing your life, with all of us.

Finished reading the book last night on my Kindle. What a fantastic heart felt book, full of highs and lows but ultimately it's a heartwarming tale of achieving dreams and adding to the history of an already unique town. Having followed the series here on YouTube from the start, the book completely compliments the videos. You should be extremely proud of yourself and all the work you have put into both the town and the book.

My favorite “part” about it was watching your writing skill change and improve throughout the book. What a huge undertaking, both the ghost town and all you have done with it and the process of authoring this book. Thank you for sharing all of this with all of us!

I think I like the way you open up about your doubts and mental health issues more than on the channel. By now we sort of know what happened in general from when you bought it to when you rebuilt the hotel, but the beauty of the book was the look into the struggle to stay on course mentally, almost everyone who has taken on a large task will relate to this.

Absolutely loved it. Have been hiking the burro trails of Death Valley for 50 years and still am amazed at Brent’s incredible adventures. Stayed up all night reading it, couldn’t put it down.

I love watching all of your videos. And seeing what the amazing town was like back in the day. I hope you can be very successful and get it operating again and have plenty of tourism. I live in Arizona and unfortunately I try not to go to California or step foot in California Because what it has become. But I think I’m going to have to make an exception because I would love to come out and visit your little town. And show my support for what you’re doing. Because our history is being lost. And people need to start realizing that and cherish everything, that made us what we are. Again big thank you.

I requested it through my local community library. I can't wait to read it when it comes in! So excited to share it with all the other library patrons as well! Looking forward to watching the town come back to life.

I have been on your entire journey since first day of filming.. I’ve felt every emotion with every high and low point you’ve shared . Reading your book has taken your fans even deeper and led us into your personal space… my favorite will be the whole book but I’m already rereading just the preface. Tip has won my heart and I know there’s more to come. You’ve rescued your fans as well as Cerro Gordo giving us new dreams and courage to step out and see what we are capable of.. I’ll come to the end and start again.. just like you!

Just got it I've only read the first chapter. So far so good. I had a hard time wrapping my head around the guy that spent 40 years digging through a mountain that was unbelievable. I'm so glad I found your channel I've been watching your videos I believe since you started it 5 years ago. Brent, you are an inspiration to us all thank you for taking us along on your adventure it's been amazing so far. God Bless you brother. I hope to visit some day. Be safe and keep the videos coming.

I finished the book today and enjoyed it very much. I really loved your stories about Tip. I’m sure you were overwhelmed with the finding of the tree in the wash. Keep walking the wash Brent and carry on with your dreams. I’m a 70 year old in New Braunfels, Tx and hope to come see you sooner than later and stay at the hotel.

Just finished full read start to finish today. Excellent. Whole thing flowed beautifully but the fire chapters were my favorite. I found myself getting misty eyed as the final paragraphs developed. As you know as our paths have crossed a few times, I spent much of my life in far more adventurous times but have settled a bit recently to enjoy a sense of comfort. This read has been has been inspiring to go get myself into trouble again!

My favorite part was learning about the local history and culture of the mine through time. I was surprised to learn that you weren’t always someone who jumped into adventure. I figured you were an ex mountain climber or something. The book is honestly great. It’s extremely well written, and you did a fantastic job with the audiobook. Great job.

Just finishing reading the book. We visited Cerro Gordo just before you purchased it. Your. descriptions of the narrows on the yellow road bring back memories of the drive up, meeting Robert and touring the American Hotel. The book is descriptive, thoughtful and inspirational. Hope you post an update video soon!

I've been really enjoying your book, i haven't read physical books much since junior high (most of its been online or video games/anime, etc). I like how you sectioned off the different parts of the book, and its been easy to jump back into reading it later. Been learning what i can about the town, surrounding areas and its history. You describe things well and its easy to picture it from your perspective.
