@nitromartini1422

I believe the record is from swapping out an air cooled VW Bug engine, which is held in place by four nuts.

Hell, takes me that long to find my cardboard 'creeper' LOL

@Mike.trucks

Over the space of 5 minutes, I have lost the rachet at least 4 times lol

@apexmcboob5161

And as soon as the manufacturer found out about the record they adjusted the warranty flat rate time appropriately...

I’ve seen an army mechanics parade team completely disassemble and reassemble a jeep, including removing the engine (intact) in probably less than 1 minute but for sure less than 2. I wasn’t timing them, they marched forward about 25 yards and reassembled it, then they’d drive it 100 yards and disassemble it again. So I’d say under 1 minute for sure.

Aren't air-cooled VW's 4 bolts and a trolley? Surely you could get one of those done in 42 seconds with the right setup?

The Audi R8 Le Mans cars, engine, transmission, and rear suspension used to come off as a whole unit. Must have been minutes.

Either way, you can bet that the record WASN'T set at any Stealership...🤣

This record was done with a Ford Escort in 1985…

It’s funny cause I work on an automotive assembly line. We install major components in 56 seconds or less. After the first 500,000 it gets real easy

The Tucker 48 was also designed so that engine swaps were a breeze.

I was initially thinking of the Jeep assembly video but he specified engine removal, and I agree with many others that it is the earlier air cooled VW's.

A lot depends on what type auto. A VW bug is only a few bolts. Most cars take hours to do an R and R on an engine. I guess just under two minutes for a specialty engine setup. One min 42 secs

@dskwared2u610

What flat rate did they charge. I need to know If I'm getting my 42 seconds worth.

@sumgai2585

The fastest I took out a VW engine was 12 minutes

@cartestgroupoy2441

I think it depends on car make and model? If it's with modern extras like ac power steering and so on?

Ford Escort by a group of English Marines. 42 seconds! Car was prepped for it though.
