If anyone was curious, the text only thumbnail/worst thumbnail was the most successful on this video. Funny how that works!

@jesus.se7854

Probably because it give it more mystery vs showing the pictures

@MrMycotic

Mainly because it stands out over everything else. Simplicity stands out when everything is over crowded

I just decided to not click it at all since it looked like curiosity bait

I'd say the differnce is negligible since they are all within 3% of each other

Gotta be honest, it's just a better thumbnail. More effort doesn't necessarily equal quality, that one just jumps out more, is cleaner and overall more effective. I think it genuinely just looks better.

The font formatting was rly good and clear at multiple screen sizes, the red-orange text is eye catching, the text is simple to read but makes you think

@MiloTheFriend

It works better because it's less cluttered and more accessible to read. Plus, the lack of visual adds mystery as to what the video is even about as some other commenters gave pointed out!

@oofcloof

Having less visual noise probably makes it stand out

@greenberrygk

Because you only focus on what it says instead of your eyes being divided beteeen everything in the thumbnail

The higher effort thumbnails make it feel more like you’re trying to trick me into watching the video with reverse psychology. The lower effort thumbnail makes me feel more like you actually don’t care or don’t want me to watch the video, which ironically compels me more to check it out.

@BryanLu0

It's because the images are not necessarily providing new information

I do wonder if an equal amount of people actually saw each thumbnail. If more people saw one than either of the others then it would lead to slanted stats. Now im not sure if this percentage is saying this chunk of the total viewers clicked for this thumbnail or if it means this percent of people who saw this thumbnail clicked on it. If the thumbnails were seen by different amounts of people it would obviously heavily skew the data if its a percent of total viewers but it would still affect the data if its counting percent of people who saw it and clicked because of how probability works in a sort of bell curve where the more chances taken results in a more accurate stat.

So are you able to post a video with a multiple thumbnails? That would explain a lot, I've seen videos reccomended to my in my feed and I ignore them or save it to watch later, then a few hours later I see the same video with a different thumbnail. I thought the youtubers were manually changing them because they were anxious perfectionists second guessing their first thumbnail.

reverse psychology works most of the time, my friend

@Starlacc

But are the results statistically significant or could it just be from random chance? 🤔
