GW hasn't been the same company since Andy Chambers and his ilk got forced out and Jervis Johnson took tue reigns, surrounded himself with yes men and started erasing everying created by the other original members of the company, from rules to lore I think a lot of the shift in the company and it's attitudes can be tracked back to that time...

Personally I always found it dumb that the lore only ever had males as Custodes or Astartes bc it was only ever like that because that was the aesthetic and vibe they have generally going for since the 80s- big muscular men doing badass war stuff for their war game. That and more and more focus on how viscerally shit is is to be alive in 40k(fun fact- proving how grimdark 40k is has to turn you on sexually before you can write 40k lore. How else does Matt ward existing make sense) There’s either not a stated reason at for why female versions don’t exist(Custodes) or extremely flimsy “only men are compatible” argument(astartes) While I get the lore can be what it is and doesn’t need to suit my sensibilities but it just never made sense why they’d put such an extreme limit on the scale and actual impact both factions can have bc a good half the imperiums population is magically impossible to turn into these transhuman super soldiers. With the lore being as convoluted and contradictory as it is, to the point where it’s literally been stated that everything is cannon but not everything is true, its not at all difficult to introduce this big update organically in a way that isn’t just thrown in your face. On principle I fully support 9 foot tall golden muscle mommy’s, I just wish GW gave even one fuck abt introducing them in a way that isn’t guaranteed to piss people off

They've done this before, and they'll do it again, and after some time we'll all either get over it or continue to enjoy it I doubt that anyone will stop playing the game because of this, and if they do, I'll be watching ebay for their armiez
