for those who prefer english - Sometimes, when I see these sadhus, babas, or accomplished men, I wonder: Are only those who renounce everything and smear themselves with ashes, or become matted hair, or wear saffron robes truly renounced? Or is there something more profound behind this? Let's explore this today... A true renouncer isn't someone who abandons everything and retreats to the forests or ashrams. A true renouncer is someone who, while living in this world, frees themselves from all desires, attachments, and material cravings. All attachments within them are extinguished, but only one attachment remains... "the attachment to one's beloved," which connects their soul to the Supreme Being. This single attachment makes them a "renouncer" from within. A renouncer gradually distances themselves from the world's customs and traditions. They don't understand people's cunning, lies, competition, or pretense because their mind is no longer engrossed in these things. He flows in his inner bliss, lost in the remembrance of his beloved. He no longer has any attachment to anything, person, or object; only one attachment remains: the union of the soul with the Supreme Being. It is worth noting that being a renunciate is not the prerogative of an ascetic or a monk. A householder can also become a renunciate if he has liberated himself from desires while alive. Even if a person is busy with family, job, or business, if he possesses a sense of detachment within him, meaning he has no inner desire for any material thing, then he is a true renunciate. From an astrological perspective, there are certain special combinations that awaken this sense of renunciation within a person. When the ascendant lord is in the 12th house and comes under the influence of Saturn or Ketu, the person tends to distance himself from the world and turn to spirituality. The conjunction of Saturn and Ketu in the 12th house especially brings about deep spiritual austerity and detachment. Jupiter-Ketu, Moon-Ketu, Venus-Ketu, or Jupiter-Saturn-Ketu also point to a spiritual detachment where a person finds joy not in worldly achievements but in inner peace. If Ketu is in the 12th house from Saturn and Moon, or if Ketu is in the 6th house from the Saturn-Moon conjunction, and there is no planet in between, then the person still has a feeling of detachment. The trine relationship between Saturn, Moon, and Ketu also indicates this. Furthermore, if Jupiter and Saturn are very close to the degrees of Rahu and Ketu, and they are located near Ketu or in a trine with Ketu, then this also indicates that such a person is a recluse. Such people lose relationships, or their circle of friends and relatives diminishes. These people learn to be happy in their solitude, or time teaches them loneliness. Such people may appear to live a normal life on the outside, fully engaged in their job, family, or society, or perhaps even covered in illusion, but deep within, they live in solitude, in silent communion with their God. They are no longer affected by external success or failure, praise or criticism. Being a renunciate is not about running away from life, but about recognizing the essence of life. Understanding that true happiness lies neither in things nor in relationships, but in the peace that comes when the soul connects with its source, its God. A renunciate is one who, while living in the world, transcends the world.
