I got Splatoon 2 in 2018 and 15 days later octo expansion released (got it immediately). Probably the best experience to have back then being unaware of everything.

i made this poll in part out of reminiscing for octo expansion but mainly because of the mortifying realization that there are teenage splatoon fans now who were like 9 when the dlc came out. i was about a year into college when Octo expansion released yall are scaring me

I have yet to play a Splatoon game, but The Octo Expansion is the entire reason that I am "into" Splatoon. I watched a small YouTuber that I followed (Ace TheOcarinaMaker) play through The Octo Expansion, and was thoroughly drawn in by the '80s aesthetic, the vibe and denizens of the underground, and the lone amnesiac Octoling's struggle to escape to a new life. After that I happened to cross the one existing image of DJ Dedf1sh, looked into her lore, and thought it was just the coolest thing. From there I listened to all of her music, and darn if it isn't a funky good time, and from there into more Splatoon music, and finally the lore, which brought me to your channel. Me loving the Splatoon universe is entirely a result of The Octo Expansion.

I always seem to come into the fun fandoms late. In the end though, Im happy i got to play it. I had a really weird introduction into splatoon where i got it for xmas but i wasent allowed to play online - so i did the story mode and i remember thinking it was fun and quirky and unique (obviously i hadebt played splatoon 1 so this was from a newcomers prespective) and i thought the world looked really cool and i wanted to explore into the backround. Comd 3 yrs later and i find out theres a DLC, so i play it and absolutly fell in love with the story, and than found out there was a splatoon 3, bought that, got online and here we are. Im terrible at the gameplay but the world is an inspiration. It feels nostalgic - even if its a time and a world i have never been too. Ive got to get side order lol.

I still remember how it felt when the Octo Expansion trailer dropped back to back with the SSBU reveal. I was so excited I couldn't sleep that night

I vividly remember seeing the anouncment that it was releasing tomorrow and then the next day I remember running out of the classroom as soon as class ended to get back home to play it (still not sure how I didn't get in trouble for that)

Came into splatoon around 2021-ish so I missed most of everything in 2, but I was around to see Failboat play the octo expansion and it was HYPE

i recieved splatoon 2 very late into its lifespan and wasnt interested in the series at the time, so i didnt even know about octo expansion. by the time i got interested in splat 3 i lowkey forgot i had 2. it wasnt until a little over a year after i got 3 that i finally played 2 (the base story mode at least), and then octo expansion a couple months later after fully beating the first campaign. i ended up really liking the dlc and it is absolutely the best splatoon story, but the journey to play it was a strangely long one, and it made me regret not getting interested in the series sooner.

Yes and I spent 2 weeks trying to beat inner agent 3. Still one of my favorite games and moments

I was 12 years old at the time, it was a little hard for me. But I did beat it after a ton of trial and error.

I remember BEGGING my mom to buy it for me pre-release (she did) proceeding to obsess over it for weeks, beat it, and then went into a Splats 2 hyper-fixation until Final Fest ended

I remember playing in the car going to an amusement park. Had to play through the wonky gyro but it was worth it.

I remember dropping out of splatoon right around it's release and when I got back into the series in 2020 I finally got it and fell in love

I never had the game when Octo Expansion released, so all I was doing at the time was just staring at Splatoon related stuff (like the concerts lol)
