Head of RENU Systems Team Appointed to REFEDS Steering Committee🎊🎉
We are incredibly proud to announce that, early this year, Hellen Nakawungu, our Head of Systems and Software, was appointed to the REFEDS Steering Committee. She becomes the first African to join this prestigious group! 🎉
The REFEDS (Research and Education FEDerations) group is the voice that articulates the mutual needs of research and education identity federations worldwide. Their work addresses issues and topics around developing access and identity management technology, policies, and processes, seeking to develop consensus on approaches that work for all participating federations globally.
REFEDS plays a vital role in shaping the global identity management landscape for research and education communities, ensuring that secure and seamless access to online resources is available to students, educators, and researchers worldwide.
Hellen’s appointment is not only a milestone for her career but also a significant achievement for Africa's representation in discussions shaping global infrastructure and technology for education and research. She also currently serves as a member, and the first female to represent Africa, on the Global eduroam Governance Committee (GeGC).
