I read this for school not too long ago and it’s sad to see it go along with the rest of the books. I will always remember your sfx version that catapulted 1984 into my imagination. Thanks Steve, I too, am sad to see it be banned.💔

Not allowing schools and not allowing anyone in the country to have it is completely different. But some people want to convince people children are the same as adults so they can treat them like adults. The more you know.

Can you produce physical copies of this audio book for purchase? It is too beautiful of a rendition to be lost in the coming tyranny

There are a whole lot worse passages in the Bible than in this Book. I read this along with Animal Farm, Fahrenheit 451, Brave New World, and The Diary of Ann Frank when I was in High School Literature Class (1972 in Iowa).

lol hits a bit too close to home for the powers that be, I guess. I'm not sure where it's being banned but considering some of the childrens books that have been found in American school libraries in recent years, I sincerely do not think the minor love scenes in this book are really the concern.

I always remember a line of graffiti spray painted in the late 70s on a wall in Given terrace Paddington, an punk rocker had written "it's 1977 not 1984"...cutting edge for it's day...in the late 70s supression of basic rights to march, and squashing trade unions....cops would show up at punk gigs and shut them down, and jail anyone who dressed or thought differently got rounded up and taken to the makerston st watchhouse. Joh Bjelke Petersen was corrupt authoritarian, with rag tag bunch equally corrupt minsters...Terry Lewis was prime example of the creeps in his cabinet, along with Rotund Russ Hinze ...a precursor to Donald Trump in every way...mark my word he was, by jingo young feller haha...if he were alive today...him and trump would be best mates...with fake schmear of christianity...a perfect match.

Im not sure what the context of "banned" is but i read 1984 for the first time in school and im pretty sure there may be books banned in some school libraries but books generally dont get banned in the US. 1st amendment and all that.

Steve Parker Audiobooks
Our first BANNED BOOK WEEK book: 1984 has been banned due to its satirical nature towards politics and leaders of government. It can be deemed as almost predictive and philosophical, making many schools wary of allowing it in libraries. Along with the political nature of the book being frowned upon, 1984 has also been banned for some of the sexual nature of the relationship between Julia and Winston. Many schools find the scenes to be too risque for allowing in schools. 1984 depicts the censorship of literature and film found in Oceania, and how it has created a downfall of the book’s society, which is what makes it so ironic that 1984 is being censored.
Also ironically, it was banned in the USSR for being anti-Communist, and banned in USA for being pro-communist, showing clearly how it's anti-authoritarian message can be feared by authoritarian leaders on all sides.
