Enjoyability and how they interact with the plot are big factors. Writing is the biggest factor as a well written character will be enjoyable.

The thing is that all of these things have to do with writing so the only answer here is writing.

Enjoyability doesn’t matter for me. Like one of my favorite characters is Walter white who I down right hate by season five, but he’s written so well

Writing and emotional appeal takes this. Look at Amo from gachiakuta. Without spoilers, she went from a character people hated on her introduction to one of the most beloved characters in the show in a span of a single episode when we got her backstory

It kind of varies, I like some characters more because of the kilo, or this. Like Klein, I like him for his symbolism and the way his theme is executed, Raskonlikov too (and some of his dialogues) and Walter White for his peaks.

The writing needs time. Enjoyability is anything you start to like before see the writing.

Loved how for most of the people its enjoyablity and other things but at The end they all compare a character based on his writing or how complex a character is to another character This is what we call duplicity
