For me there is DEFINITELY similarities. Newjeans brought something new and unique to kpop and seeing how HYBE replicated it, I understand why Newjeans company is upset. NO HATE TO BOTH GROUPS.

Quite similar. But ceo ador is very funny. She want to protect new jeans from being copied.. But new jeans concept is also not new..

What can I say, the appearance of their first teaser has also made many kpop fans react like: oh, this is really NJ 2.0

Damn the ceo herself said that 😦 They definitely seem very similar to me but I thought HYBE meant them to be similar but clearly Min hee Jin didn't want i

Hybe is showing how big corporations have bigger problems. They are failing on all aspects this year

similarities? Yes. Was this probably intentional due to the insane popularity of NJ? Yes. So she's right and wrong

Firstly, they do have similarities, especially the appearance of the members and the number of members which consists of 5 people with long hair that is typical like new jeans. I really see that the members will give a new jeans vibe, but we can't blame that because illit's debut line up was obtained from a survival show which was outside the agency's control due to the voting system. secondly, about the concept, in my opinion illit didn't steal the newjeans concept because illit didn't provide the y2k concept at all. illit is highlighted by its cute concept that looks innocent and dreamy, while newjeans has a y2k concept that is unique and a little more mature. when compared to their debut songs (attention and magnetic) they are really different. Maybe in your mind the song Magnetic is similar to the song on the Get Up NewJeans album. because in this album newjeans provides a cuter concept, similar to the song illit. but it must be emphasized that new jeans DO NOT OWNED cute concept. The cute concept is not just for newjeans, it can be seen from many seniors who use cute concepts too, and illit members are very suited to concepts like that and less suited to concepts like girl crush or more mature concepts. no hate to both groups i really like them

First time i heard magnetic, new jeans came to my mind. You can't completely rule out some of the similarities.

NGL even before MHJ said this, people were already saying that they were copying/trying to copy nwjns, especially after their debut fashion week appearance. Their styling was so much similar to new jeans that both knetz and inetz said the same thing.

The vibe is similar but by no means a copy, Illit feels way more bright and almost sweet than NewJeans ever did. It’s definitely a reminiscent sound and concept but a ton of groups released songs in that realm post NewJeans. I don’t think taking inspiration from popular sounds is a crime and I think Min Heejin is believing her own hype a bit too much. I’ve never liked her after hearing about the shit she did under SM and nothing she’s done with NewJeans has proved me wrong ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They are similar but New Jeans also dont own the y2k concept. Sure they might have been a contributing factor of bringing back y2k, but still they dont own the concept. Thats like saying 1 group (eg, Blackpink) own the girl crush concpet although its such a widely used concept. Its insane. New jeanz dont own anything. They are participating in a style/concept.....etc.

I feel like it’d be saying groups are copying bp for having a girl crush concept. Similar concepts, but groups are all different and it wouldn’t be right to call them the same group.

Do you agree?
“ILLIT is copying Newjeans in all areas of entertainment activities from hair, makeup, costuming, choreography, photos, videos, and event appearances. ” — ADOR (Newjeans' company)
