I would take "live as long as you want and then choose when to die"

I'm only 34 and am already watching the downfall of society in large part due to social media and brainwashed individuals and it's already annoying enough. I think I'm good on endless years of being surrounded by mindless humans.

"Life needs an ending to have meaning". I envy the people who think they will actually find a meaningful ending. I want to live forever to follow in the footsteps of the greatest people, to live with and see the greatest discoveries and inventions. In several thousands of years when humans become superhuman, when there's interplanetary politics and war, no illnesses, when all the other creatures evolve to the intelligence we have currently so we can converse with them, I want to see the good, the bad, the evil and the divine. I want to live to see the day that humans conquer the energy of our sun, the possibility of other life. I want to follow in the footsteps of Newton, Descartes, Aristotle, Marcus Aurelius, Camus, Plato, etc. I want to see the rise and fall of empires, the liberations of tyrannical governments, the new Napoleon's and Romanov's, the debunking of the Rothschilds, the inevitable collapse of religion. I want to witness it all. Why? Because I am human. To want is the only thing I'm entitled to.

I don't think you need to die for life to have meaning. I just wouldn't want to live forever. Living through the heat death of the universe sounds like a real bummer.

To life’s fundamental core, there’s no beginning or ending… we live, function, create, co-create in what can only be described as a waking dream state. Non of us, myself included will ever understand the idea we call life, we are all just actors in a bigger pattern than ourselves and our collective concept.

I'd hate to see what kind of mental deterioration happens to an immortal over hundreds or thousands of years

Endless life already exists. It is called eternity and we're already in it. The opposite of death isn't life, it's birth. Life contains both birth and death and It allows us to travel from one to the other. I know it sounds weird but living in eternity is worth a try.

Not a chance. The odds are I will live between 40-70 more years and that alone sounds utterly exhausting.

If you’ve ever done the most powerful psychedelics on Earth you might understand life doesn’t end after this one.

While the thought of drifting, immortal, through deep time sounds like the best thing ever; there's no way I'd be able to stand all the crap between now and then. Can I die for a couple trillion years, and just wake up for the quiet part?

I'm a long time cryonicist, and we have been talking about the advantages of living forever for about 60 years now.

Nothing is more utterly terrifying than the threat of existing forever. Let me die. The idea of an eternal soul is utter nonsense meant to soothe simple minded people who are afraid of death.

i believe most people understand immortality is generally considered a form of curse rather than blessing lol. sure, YOU dont die, but everything and everyone youve ever known WILL. and at the very end of it all, the only thing left in the emptiness of space, is you. Cant see how this could be anything other than a form of torture to a person lol

Good lord we have some depressing people here. Bring the immortality.

Human brain is also not designed to even comprehend eternity so it would also have to change for eternal life to work. That's the reason we couldn't possibly decide with our current brains wether we want to live forever or not
