Here's the thing about quotes & thoughts... They are left to be interpreted by the reader & sometimes, that can lead to confusion. I ALWAYS take a conservative approach to my training by properly building a base & balancing my run volume with cross-training, strength, mobility & yoga. ➡ What I meant by my quote is that I can sometimes underestimate my abilities. In my personal experience, my body can only do what the mind thinks it can achieve. My fear can take over, resulting in "playing it safe" by not setting my goals high enough to reach my full potential. A perfect example was a half marathon I ran a few years back. I was fully trained & well-prepared. I felt great the morning of my race & I was hitting all my pace goals during my training. As I stood at the start line of that race, I decided to push myself beyond what I had initially planned for my race splits. I finished my race significantly faster than if I had "played it safe." This was in no way reckless - it was a calculated risk that was ambitious & in the end, was very rewarding & a great learning experience. We are all about Earning Our Miles here at The Run Experience! We "Earn Our Miles" by emphasizing non-running activities, such as strength training, mobility, form drills, intervals & foam rolling. In addition, we stress the importance of completing a proper dynamic warm-up & cool-down every time you run. Implementing these practices makes us more efficient and more resilient to injuries. You know the drill. You hear this message repeatedly in our videos! 💥 Cheers to Earning Your Miles, Coach Eri

No, with running this advice can be very dangerous it was for me. Everyone’s on ramps to this are different so starting slow ended up being more beneficial than “aiming high” cus now I can do the long runs and hikes I want because I took my time building.

That goes entirely against what best running coaches say. "No pain no gain" culture leads to injuries and lack of progress. Instead, training at low intensity and greater volume helps to asimilate workouts even more than working out to your limits. Worst advice ever

This is how I ended up with plantar fasciitis and runners knee. Now I just reach for my ice pack. 😂

Stuff like this just sounds like it comes from a random motivational quote generator at this point. It’s literally meaningless. It’s entirely fine to go out, run, and have no goals whatsoever beyond enjoying yourself. Edit: and try deleting Strava for a while
