i think this was the firstβand maybe the lastβshow that felt fully intentional. a consecutive, well thought out production built by a team with vision and the budget to support it without cutting corners. everything was in sync: the model casting, the colour palette, the lighting, the pace, the background staging, the performance; every piece felt like it belonged to the same breath. now people settle for anything as long as itβs βpretty.β but whereβs the heart? the depth? the devotion to pure excellence?
the pressure to cater to everyone now means you have to dilute the craft; simplify the production, dress it up just enough for style points, but strip it of any real conceptual purpose. itβs all surface. for me, victoriaβs secret started to decline in quality the moment they started heavily relying on live performances, burlesque-lite costuming borderline halloween ensembles, and that exaggerated cheerleader persona on the runway. it was no longer about the garments it was about entertaining the wrong crowd. this isnβt cirque du soleil. itβs womenβs lingerie. there was a time it felt artful, aspirational, cohesive. it had a rhythm. but once the gimmicks became the formula, the magic dissolved and the facade cracked. itβs not organic anymore. itβs just a loop that doesnβt know it ended. whatβs been offered from victoriaβs secret for about a decade now has landed as mediocrity. had it come from anywhere else, it mightβve been passable; not great, but whatever. but from victoriaβs secret β a brand that prided itself and actually succeeded in selling fantasy since 1979 itβs simply a disappointment. every comeback showcase falls short because they refuse to study their own original craftsmanship. thatβs not the publicβs fault. itβs the people behind the curtain. theyβve failed to sell realism inside fantasy, and they keep trying to cut corners around an impossible mission. the people want earthly angel concepts... but naturally, they donβt want to live a life that constantly affirms to earthly angel standards. and thatβs an understandable, realistic decision. but you canβt have both. somethingβs got to give.
