I’m on a bus right now! Crazy huh? We are on our way to Bands of America Super Regionals in San Antonio, Texas. It’s barely 6AM as I type this and I am hoping I don’t get car sick while doing so. In other words, I’m going to try and keep this short.

BAND-MAID Sunday:
I was not prepared for what my ears heard in the next BAND-MAID installment of the World Domination album. “Turn Me On” was co-written with our previous composer Kentaro Akutsu so I felt like I knew what I was in for when it came to the sound of the song. He’s arrangements have a specific feel to them that you can pin down. The solo section though? I wasn’t ready! The ease of transitions between bass, guitar and drums was clean!

DOLL$BOXX - Dragonet
I feel bad because it’s been a LONG time since I listened to this group. I remember this being one of the first bands that was suggested to me when I started taking requests. I am a little ashamed that I waited this long to get back to them, but at least I’m here again. Dragonet has such a hardcore angelic sound. The keyboardist’s vocals in contrast of the lead singer made for a unique listening experience here!
Yuki Kaijura - Himeboshin & Mezame
This suggestion comes from an anime called “My-Hime” and man...after listening to it, I think I am going to have to check out the anime. This piece is beautifully composed is such a way that allows the listener to feel the emotions of the singers. The way their vocals swell and vibrate together shows the level of expertise here. Also, the surprise battle music transition was a huge plus. You’ve gotta check this one out.
BAND-MAID - “Turn Me On” live Okyuji, World Domination Tour 2018
Listening to the album version was one thing, but listening to this live version was an experience! My ears were blessed with a bass solo with drums before the whole band seamlessly started the song together. In this live, I could hear more than I felt I could hear in the studio version, but it could be possible I wasn’t listening deep enough before!

Sound! Euphonium - Season 3, Ep. 2
Still no tears for me in episode 2 which is great for me! I am suspicious, however, of Mayu. She seems very lovely, but she’s very confident in her abilities. That’s not a bad thing, but I am worried that there might be drama brewing soon!
The Apothecary Diaries - Season 1, Ep. 8
Can a girl catch a break? Not our girl Maomao. She’s home only one day and she already has to start solving some mysteries. A courtesan and a wealthy patron are found near the brink of death. What caused it and who did it?
K-On! - Season 2, Ep. 2
The girls are realizing they have a small collection of personal items in their music storage room and it’s becoming a problem. It’s time to clean out those items to make room and organize their actual equipment. During their process, they found a case with a Gibson guitar! Sawa-chan said they could sell it and use the money towards the light music club. What are they going to buy first?
I love and hate this trip. It’s a great time to see some really great bands across the state and you also get a chance to let loose a little bit and joke around with the kids. I just hate that I am so tired after all of it when I get back...and I have to teach the next day. Oh well! 2 weeks until Thanksgiving break, I guess!
