really cool of you to openly talk about this, not enough people do wishing you a quick recovery 💖

As someone who was kissed as a baby and now deals w cold sores I found that whenever I feel sick I take vitamin C, Zinc, Lysine, and vitamin E (basically anything that helps the immune system) and it stops them from forming or speeds up the recovery. Please try the next time you feel sick!!

Just a lil note, most people have HSV 1 but are asymptomatic. Like it’s very hard to not have it. If you have ever drank from a friends glass even as a child - you probably came in contact with it and have it in your body. Most people get it as children even if they don’t experience the sores until later. While both types of HSV are spread sexually, HSV 1 is passed around in all other kinds of ways. If you have a parent, sibling or friend with cold sores you probably got it also. But most people just don’t develop sores. So while no one should be stigmatised even with an STD, it’s not only an STD in this case. I am not a doctor though so if I am incorrect to anyone wants to add anything please do! Stay healthy and judgement free everyone ❤️

I get canker sores ever so often and they’re terrible, never had a cold sore though. Regardless, hang in there and thank you for the positive awareness 🙏

I have the same thing. Cold sore medicine helps alot, especially when you apply it first thing before it has a chance to worsen.

Lysine. Lysine. Lysine. As soon as you feel one coming, start downing large amounts of lysine. It will reduce both the severity of the blister and the duration of healing. If eat enough soon enough, you can shut it down almost entirely before it develops into a visible sore.

A common ailment too often stigmatized. So many people who are judgemental about this have it themselves too

Ephemeral Rift
If I were to guess, I’d say my favorite part about having contracted HSV-1 aka Cold Sores aka Lip Herpes in the early 2000’s (before my wife) is the healing process when the scabs split & bleed when trying to eat, thus delaying the healing even process even more.
