I called a local radio station in July 1996 that had an evening program dedicated to Brian May’s 49th birthday. As a 11 year old back then I felt like the biggest Queen fan in the world. I asked them to play Scandal as at that time the song was still an unknown mystery to me as all I knew about it was a piece of videoclip used in The Show Must Go On video with Freddie on stage with a mic in front of a giant “Scandal” banner (it wasn’t until spring 1997 that I got my hands on The Miracle album for the first time on a cassette that I borrowed from my 5th grade classmate as my obsession with Queen proved rather contagious with the band gradually growing on my friends as well).

I was 15 when The Miracle was released, it was the first Queen album I had actually been waiting for the release date of. Three years back then (since A Kind of Magic) seemed like a lifetime, I used to find out release dates from a small record shop owner, who kept me up to date with anything Queen related, and would run to town from school in my breaks to buy the singles on as many formats I could afford on release day... Such great memories... take me back.. 😌
