Don't tell me it's not real life.

@Eldritch_Mage

Kids just don't understand how CRAZY it was seeing game go from simple 2D blocks, to 2D blocks with detail, to then almost out of nowhere hit us with full 3D environments+voice acting. There's jumps aren't going to be seen again until there's some augmented reality stuff they can program onto your eyeball.

@Nicko278

Ngl that’s kinda sweet for 99 👌

That was high level realism for the Ps1-64 era though, so it was natural to think that way. Those were times of fast and big changes, with big advances in 3d every year. But objectively the highest standards were in the Dc.

My favorite is the FF8 meme "You're the best looking guy here" The best looking guy here....

I got that same feeling with GTA SA in 2004. My imagination did all the work. Darn it, I swear I could feel the smell of a melting asphalt in Los Santos

Realistic ain’t my tea tbh. Back then it was cool, sure, but once the fidelity cranked up in the 2010’s I was a broke kid with a toaster for a pc setup. Really taught me to appreciate stylistic graphics over realism. A good style ages like fine wine while realism is hit or miss from day 1.

I remember going gaga over the fact one could see the shells eject from your gun upon firing your weapon in Resident Evil. Those were the days. 👍🏿

Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force was the game where I was first amazed by the upgrade in graphics.

I remember being blown away with resident evil and tomb raider, lost my mind with blinking in ff7. 😂

Actually we liked because it was so well designed and thoughful... style and concept with a bunch of masterful pieces, like planed polygons, textures, shader painting... and remember almost everything done by hand! Even the pre rendered backgrounds had their artistic make ups and enhancements. Besides RE my other favorite game style characters and graphics was Soul Reaver

The pre rendered graphics are amazing, makes this game totally playable in 2025. I have done a playtbrough every few years and it still holds up. One of the goats.

We didn't think they couldn't get better. But compared to pre and Windows 95, DOS and the Atarie. They were amazing. Now - Need For Speed Underground. Those graphics we thought were hyper realistic 😆 🤣

Hey man! At that point in time alot of us came up on atari, nes and master system. I remember when I got my Sega Saturn and the music and panzer dragoon cutscenes blew my lil teenage mind🤷

En lo personal, siempre va a ser el punto mágico de los videojuegos, esos gráficos y las historias tan geniales que los acompañaban.

I remember the first time I played the demo and realized there were different animations for your movement when you got damaged my mind was blown!

Hey, when Xenogears had a full three dimensional environment you could rotate the camera to look around in, that blew my mind!!

That was CoD 4 in 2007. It looked like real life back then. Look at it now, and it has definitely aged, lol!
