I find making lists of things in Excel soothing. 😂 This one is a bit of a meditative retrospective on cameras I've covered over the years. Enjoy? 🤓

I didn’t know the three people who owned ZCAMs could be so vocal.

I bought the a7S III because of your review and I wasn’t disappointed. Still an amazing video camera nearly five years later. Fanboys don’t like their brand being criticised but if the a7S IV (FX3 II) is no good, then I’d rather you give an honest review than blow smoke. Keep up the excellent work

I have a feeling that you would hear a lot of the same ups and downs from any reviewer with morals and values for their uploads. Personally, I’d rather listen to a few of those folks (yourself, Marques, etc.) than a bunch of people hitting upload because they want the bag. Both have their place but you shouldn’t feel like you need to defend yourself like you have been. Keep up the good work.

Love your video’s, LOVE the rant. And people, remember, cameras are only a tool.

Keep up the amazing work! I watch your reviews purely because of the no BS and you say what others do not!

Thought the s1r video was outstanding. The only one to show us the slow read out speeds.

LUMIX owner here: thought your points on the s1rii were fair. I don’t understand getting butthurt if someone on the internet isn’t cheerleading the camera you like. 🤷🏼‍

I think there is a variable you aren't tracking: how positive your audience is about a camera. If you were really hard on a camera, and everyone agrees, then no pushback. If you were hard on a camera and a large enough subset loves it (or the brand) you get some pushback.

@DennisSchmitz

We need that S1RII 12 bit low rolling shutter mode (16ms) for all frame rates. 😅

yeah makes sense, really wish Lumix was a bit nicer to you imo. i was hoping for an S9 technical review.

One camera you haven’t talked about is the GFX100ii, which I think in the run up to the release of the ETERNA camera should be explored. Given it has a new Log profile in the form of F-log2C which was made specifically for the ETERNA in the first instance, it can be served as a preview to what could be expected. Be very interesting to see what your thoughts are and whether it can be paired with other cameras effectively, especially with the XH2s. Of course, you will receive an undue amount of hate from Fuji users, but it’s still engagement! 🤣

One thing that’s too bad about the negativity over the R5 is that it totally doesn’t apply to the newest firmware: The camera simply does not overheat anymore. I shoot 4k all the time with mine, and you can’t overheat it if you try. Sadly, no reviewer went back and updated their reviews because they were already on to the Mark II. To me, the R5 is the best used camera value available today because everybody still thinks it overheats.

It seems like you let the negative comments speak louder than the positive ones. I’ve noticed the uptick in passive-aggressive clapbacks since your S1Rii review (which was great btw) and I went back to see if the comments were demonstrably more negative than your other reviews. The worst I saw were people excusing some of its shortcomings, but most of it looks like people dunking on Panasonic, praising you for your thorough transparency, or hoping for an S1Hii. Just feels out of the ordinary

@lukerestlessstudios

I was going to save up to buy a high-end camera for YouTube and then I just bought an Osmo three and honestly, I feel like I don’t need anything more.

Thanks for your work Gerald. Any camera on that green box is a workhorse.
