Best part is a word "przemyśl" means "think it over"

The locals must have their fun with foreigners trying to pronounce it right. A friend of mine always asked them for „Prislemysle“ but it‘s really a „Pshemyshl“

Wow, this is amazing. I'm currently making a mod for a game which is about the Battle of Galicia. Looking forward to this.

Winston Churchill’s ‘The Unknown War: The Eastern Front 1914-1917’ is a fabulous resource and extraordinary that the future British leader (at time he wrote it) chose to devote so much time and attention to this very campaign. He writes brilliantly and largely accurately and in a balanced manner. Uses the German place names mainly.

@overworlder

It’s easier in German or Ukrainian. In fact if you’re going to use Lemberg, you may as well use Premissel.

I heard Epic History TV’s Charles Nove pronounce it ‘sh-eh-meh-sh-Oll’ so that’s what I’m sticking with

No, it's actually really easy and intuitive. Or I'm just biased since I live a 3 hour drive away lol

For real, most Polish or generally West Slavic words I can pronounce more or less easily. But then you get the sound made by the Polish digraph rz and the Czech letter ř, and my brain and mouth short-circuit
