REFERENCES/EASTER EGGS:

- The opening scene when Luigi, Hat Kid and Bow Kid are rescued by Mustache Girl and they all escape just as Wario and Waluigi set off a frigid bomb on the Subcon Forest is based on the mission 'Anakin's Escape' from the 2002 video game "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" where Anakin and Bera Kazan are locked in a cage in a forest on a Kashyyyk moon, held by Dooku and Cydon Prax activates a Force Harvester and Anakin and Bera escape. Likewise, the battle is similar to "The Liberation of Kashyyyk" when Anakin, Bera and an army of Wookiees take their last stand against the Separatists before Republic reinforcements arrive.

- When Hat Kid calls Earth a myth, it's a reference to what the VSG 1 will reveal about Earth in "A Hat in Time".

- After Mustache Girl frees Luigi, Bow Kid and Hat Kid from the cage, she brings up an old moral: the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

- When Luigi tells Hat Kid, Bow Kid and Mustache Girl to hang on because it was going to take some serious New York City style driving is a reference to the Skybox International merch - trading card #48 (Sibling Car Thieves) of the 1993 film "Super Mario Bros."

- When Luigi kicks a Goomba off the upper deck of Waluigi's airship, the Goomba lets out a Wilhelm scream.

- When Luigi tells Waluigi to be Luigi'd, it's a reference what Luigi says to the Dry Bones after making the latter fall apart in the Dark Lands, as depicted in the 2023 film "The Super Mario Bros. Movie".

- As Penny is drying out Mona's clothes while the latter is in the bathtub warming up, Dr. Crygor updates the girls on the hijacking of Waluigi's airship - he calls Mustache Girl a "girl in red with a biologically impossible trait", referencing the real life fact that female individuals, no matter their age, can't grow facial hair.

- When Luigi reacts to Mario, Peach, Daisy, Rosalina and Toad floating down onto the upper deck of the captured airship, he responds with Mario's name - John Leguizamo archive audio from the 1993 film "Super Mario Bros." when he reacts to Mario's arrival from Brooklyn to Dinohattan.

- Daisy's response of "They?" out of confusion when before Luigi reveals that Hat Kid had a cellmate (Bow Kid) is a reference to the fact that her new voice actress, Giselle Fernandez, is non-binary (indiviuals who do not ID as male or female and go by pronouns of they/them).

- The establishing shot of an airship as it travels through a wormhole/warp zone depicts a rainbow overlay and the foggy warp zone from the 2023 film "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" in the background, plus color cycling like grabbing a Starman, similar to Mario's journey through the psychedelic landscape from Brooklyn to Dinohattan, as depicted in the 1993 film "Super Mario Bros."

- The characters Bowser are talking to during the ending are implied to the villains featured from franchises in my Christmas Crossovers.

- Mario and Luigi's relatives from the 2023 film "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" appear during the ending, appearing as they did in said source; Marianne and Luigeena are two of Mario and Luigi's cousins from "The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!" live-action sketch 'Marianne and Luigeena' who have a crush on Lyle Azaldo. They're designed to look like gender-swapped doppelgangers of Mario and Luigi as a reference to the fact that they were portrayed by Captain Lou Albano and Danny Wells in drag.

- The ending is an homage to the ending of the 1987 film "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" when Neil Page (played by Steve Martin) finally arrives in time for Thanksgiving dinner and has invited Del Griffith (played by John Candy) to show how much they bonded over the course of the events of the movie.

- The reaction shot of Mario and Luigi's niece (I headcanon she's a cousin; Arthur and Marie's daughter) is an implication that she might've made some friends.

GOOFS:

- When Wario sighs with relief that Mona survived falling out of the airship and was okay, the background isn't moving to create the illusion of being inside a vehicle.

- When Bowser throws a Bob-Omb at a fleeing Express Owl, the Bob-Omb is still visible, despite the fact that it went off.

BEHIND-THE-SCENES FACTS:

- This animation was supposed to be finished and up on YouTube by Good Friday, but it took me a little longer than normal to finish.

- The custom thumbnail, as well as some scenery frames and background, were screenshots taken via the Camera Badge from the Steam/PC version of "A Hat in Time".

- When Mona is being rescued, I attempted to have her enunciate Penny's name using a mishmash of phonetics from various Stephanie Sheh voice clips from "WarioWare Gold".
