It's kind of like the one you're currently listening to. Ambassador Satch remains a benchmark as does the expanded Pasadena and Town Hall concerts and the complete Symphony Hall concert. But if I had to pick one for the last day of my life, it would be all the numbers he did with Earl Hines in the late 1920's. Fatha's musical presence really pushed Pops to refine his mastery of the horn and each of them spurred the other to greater heights of invention. These excursions are limitless.
