**Help Me Choose the Name for a New D&D Compendium**

The themes are alchemy and sanctioned unholy magic.
By sanctioned I mean heretical arts which are approved by the Church for the "Greater Good"

I just think that if the Church is approving, they wouldn't call it "profane" or "heretic", even if it is. Penitent's Alchemy makes a lot of sense bc sounds like a sinner paying for their sins, for the "greater good"

What I'm gathering is that it's Alchemy And Heretical(unholy) Magic that's been sanctioned for use by the church "for the Greater Good". A good name for that might be something along the lines of "Alchemy & Heresy: A Sinner's Guide to Penance"

Something to keep in mind is that something being a heresy specifically means that the church does not approve of it. So, if it's unholy magic that has been sanctioned by the church, it would be phrased and labeled in a way that makes it sound like a good thing. So, depending on the nature of this magic, a name could incorporate themes that make it seem like that religion's theology is still in authority, or that make it seem that they are simply willing to overlook and forgive the infractions. Personally, I think something along the lines of "The Apostate Alchemist" could work beautifully.

I think "Taboo of equivalent exchange" could be a good fit here

The penitent has an air of mental clarity, and coolheadedness, that most scientists would probably have.

I'm also thinking, if they use it regardless of being heretical. Give it a name that keeps it close but not too much, maybe something like "The fallen angels alchemy" since they would most likely be used by secret agents.

I would call it “The Churches Guide to Unholy Alchemy” but that’s just me

I was thinking maybe it would be best to combine two qualifiers, so something like “Penitent’s Unholy Alchemy”

I would call it something like "The Heretic's Manual of Alchemy" or "The Alchemist's Collection of Heretical Research"

The Heretic’s guide to alchemy seems a bit better if you don’t mind my opinion

Philosopher's stone because it's related to alchem and depending on the version of the legend it may be connected to God or to evil rituals. Moreover there is an episode of full metal alchemist in which all these topics interconnect

The "righious alchemy's for the only those opposed to the contence of this book would deam it heretical"

Why not something with a bit of aliteration? Like aberrant, aborrent, antithetic, anathema or so on?
