600 miles. One was born in southern Calif, the other in northern Calif, but before either was born, both sets of grandparents lived in the same SoCal town. What's more interesting to me is how many thousands of miles apart my grandparents were born. Paternal grandparents: one in eastern Washington, one in Illinois; Maternal grandparents: one in Iowa, the other in western Washington. They all migrated to southern California in their 20s.

My parents were born in the same town, but both their families moved more than a thousand miles, to another (the same) state, when they were small children. It was another 20 years before they met each other.

Mine was 81.6 miles according to Google that is. My mom grew up in Portland Oregon and my dad in Oceanside Oregon. Took an hour and 41 minutes to drive between the 2 cities. For myself and my ex from birth to age 14 and a half I lived 37 miles from him. From 14 and a half to the time we started dating we were just a mile apart. My parents met by way of my aunties. My paternal auntie Connie met my maternal auntie Kitty they became friends and Kitty and my mom were on the beach one morning and my auntie Connie came from my paternal grandparents house to walk on the beach and came across mom and Kitty. My maternal grandparents had a beach house built in the 50s in Oceanside and granny and my aunt and uncle and mama would spend the summer there while gramps would come down on the weekend. I met my ex through our sisters too. His kid sister and mine were 3 weeks apart in age, and we all went to school together. They were in the school band. Sister in law played the flute and baby sister played the clarinet. Funny enough my in laws met through ex husband's aunt his dad's kid sister. Diane was in the same 4-H group as my mother in law.

My parents were born in the same small county but 2 small communities maybe 10 miles apart. They would never have met except my dad's cousin was my mom's friend. This cousin only lived by my mom for maybe 3-4 years.
