I'm sure you have a full schedule but just in case, I'm not sure if anyone let you know about drive thru holiday lights. You can find them all over the country, some bigger and better than others. You pay to drive through a light display. The one name I know of is Lights on the Lake in Syracuse, New York. But there are several all over and I thought that would be something you would want to see. There is also the Canadian-Pacific Holiday Train that is supposed come through parts of the U.S.. It is a train all decorated in Christmas lights. I don't know the full schedule but it is supposed to travel through Michigan on November 22.

Oh yes that’s right it’s because of the shutdown and lack of workers so it’s going to be like this for a few more weeks. I heard many flights would be canceled due to this. They have people really working without a paycheck for three weeks.

I follow plane spotting on YouTube so I have an app that follows planes. I seen a flight cancelled and I wonder if it was yours. I don't see any rescheduled. It looks like LAX is still having scheduled flights, at least 2 a day. Maybe you can fly into a different city and then fly to your destination. I know it's now what you wanted to do but at least you can get here and start your adventure. Safe travels.

Unfortunately, our Government has lost a core strength over time, the ability to compromise. This often gets looked at as a weakness, not a strength, but it is a core strength that keeps relationships together as well as it keeps democracies running. Unfortunately, our Government is currently in shutdown because of this, and it impacts everything connected to the Government, even air travel.

You might want to consider flying into Canada and then driving down to the U.S. Its about a 7 hour drive down to NYC from Montreal. And, you get to drive through the beautiful Adirondack Mountains with a possible side trip to Lake Placid, 2 time home of the Winter Olympics. Or, you could just enjoy Canada this trip. Good Luck!
