Both, he might not have an ability but he is still gifted in intelligence, he can prove his gift that makes him not normal so as long as you can be separated from the norm you have a gift

My first thought was this line from Alfred Molina in Sam Raimi's Spider-man 2: "Intelligence is not a privilege. It's a gift. And you use it for the good of mankind." Working off that, I'd say someone is gifted when they have a trait that isn't widely shared and is used for betterment of oneself or others. If said trait was only harmful, then I'd say that person was cursed with that trait. To give a personal example, I thought my memory was a normal, functioning one. However, I've had to hear people complain that their memory is bad so much both in person and online and demonstrate that their memory is bad so much that I'm almost convinced that my memory is better than most. I wouldn't say its an eidetic memory, but its easy for me to remember stuff and hold on to thoughts and memories. While I haven't used my "good memory" for anything super altruistic, it has been both helpful and enjoyable to not have a bad memory. Also, here's hoping they continue the BUngo STray Dogs anime and don't just leave it at the cliffhanger at the end of Season 5

What does it truly mean to be "gifted"?
This is a question that popped in my head while I was finishing watching Bungo Stray Dogs (yes, I know I'm way late😂) and I can't stop thinking about it.
I mean the "gifted" are these super powered beings yet that's not all there is to it. I mean one of the smartest people on the show isn't really a "gifted", he's just a really good detective. So does having a special ability make you gifted or are you gifted because you refuse to be defined as normal?
What do you guys think?
