We came close. We had reservations to London in September 20th, with a stop in Dallas-Ft. Worth. That was the day their ATC center had their comms and radar feed accidentally severed. Our flight from Indianapolis arrived too late to make our original connection, but we snagged 2 seats on the last plane out that evening to Heathrow.

Here's the mess. Flying home from Atlanta to NYC - Delta 12 noon flight. • On board, buckled in and deplaned due to mechanical failure checks. • Then, we were informed our next flight was now in gate 17. This was approx 3pm. 300+ people are rushing to gate 17, 12 gates away. • Once we all get there, it wasn't our flight! It was going to Detroit. WTF!! 😠😡🤬 So we (300+) all wait around and some are desperate to get out of Atlanta for a European connection to Amsterdam on KLM. • I've been in this airport since 10:00 am for early check in. • Delta, finally got us a flight at 9:30 pm to fly from Atlanta to NYC. We had to get "re-ticketed", & re-check our luggage. Two families with infants crying, uncomfortable, hungry. There was a man walking with crutches from a casted leg. • Sitting in that Airport for 12 hours+ waiting for Delta to get their act together was a very trying day. Thank God 🙏 no one acted like a karen out of frustration. The worst part of this ordeal, Delta NEVER apologized or offered a coupon for food or a future flight. We asked a desk attendant for a coupon, and said, "sorry, no. A day in the life of Delta." The worst customer service. The least amount of customer assistance. Horri

So. Many. Times. I cant even count! The best one was about 15 years ago. SNA-PHL via DFW. Sitting at the gate waiting... and then the dreaded cancellation announcement. Stand in line, get to the desk, and zero availability anywhere to get to PHL (or EWR or even JFK or LGA!) Next available flight was 0800 the next day. No meal or room vouchers available. So sad and angry me took her ass outside and sat on the curb, leaned against her luggage and lit a cigarette. As I sat there with my limited options running through my mind, I look up and who do I see coming out of the airport? My high-school bff that I hadn't seen in decades! She had just gotten into town on business, so we shared a room, got crazy drunk, and the next morning I knee walked onto that plane! 😂 Thanks for the great weekend, American

No...but as a pilot, I had to cancel a flight due to severe thunderstorms in the area that were going to take hours to clear out, so we talked with the customer and he agreed to wait until the next morning. It's one of the reasons that I am still here to talk with you. One of the deadliest diseases in aviation is "get there itis."

Not exactly cancelled. Had a flight scheduled from Sydney Australia to Fiji in 1987 but was allowed to change the ticket for free due to a coup in Fiji involving seizure of a govt building. Saw lots more in Sydney but never got to Fiji. Still on my list, tho.

Yes. I had 5:45 am departure on Southwest, meaning get up at 3 am to drive to airport. At 4:00 a.m. I was notified the flight was cancelled, no reason given. They rebooked me on an 11 am flight that was fine, BUT I’D HAD TO GET UP AT 3 AM for nothing! 😫😤😩 Where was that 11am seat when I booked? (Rhetorical, I know) I’ve had worse late cancellations, but that was most aggravati

It was a scam from Budget Air, took 6 months to get my money back. Always book with airline directly. Lesson learnt.

I have not, but my husband has, my daughter's family has, and my neighbor has. All of them were this year and all were with American Airlines.

Yes connecting flight from Baltimore to Charlotte. No crew. We didn't find out until after we cleared customs and were about to recheck our bags. The only flight available was for 24 hrs later. No hotel, refund or meal voucher offered or given. I've never flown Southwest again. That was 2019. We ended up renting a car. 5 hr drive.

24 hour delay. Put us in airport hotel with no hot food. Replacement plane had engineers repairing it. A lot of families were kicking off at the gate so police were in attendance.

I was leaving Vegas, made it through security, only to get an alert my flight was cancelled. Talk about scrambling to get luggage onto the new flight was not fun

While waiting for time to board a flight to Albuquerque a vintage plane that had been chartered for a short sightseeing flight crashed during takeoff at the end of one of the runways. Chaos ensued.

Yes - going to Hawaii in 2018. 6AM flight cancelled at 4:45AM for lack of crew. Then American Airlines tried to rebook us on United Airlines, but downgraded our first class seats to coach. When we went to check in at UAL, we told the agent we were looking forward to the first class flight we had spent so many points to buy, she upgraded us, charged AA, and told us to keep the points. So - We made it to our destination only 45 minutes late, got $1500.00 back from AA, ended up flying first class on UAL, and kept all our milage bonus points. It was worrying there for a second, but it worked out just fine!!!

Yes, last year in Orlando, literally 5mins before boarding. Had to call my hubby and ask him to drive me to Miami to get my connecting flight to Europe. Had to leave my checked in luggage behind, because there was no time to wait until the plane was unloaded. It was send to my home address 10 days later. Customer support: none. Thanks,Delta…

Coming back from Belize my connecting flight from Miami to San Antonio was canceled due to high winds in San Antonio. So I booked another flight to Austin and drove a rental car to San Antonio to get my personal car at the airport, and in the end got home just a couple of hours later than I would have if the flight hadn’t been canceled. All in all it could have been much worse

I was supposed to fly to Fort Lauderdale for a cruise last year when Crowdstrike caused the huge IT outage that grounded almost all commercial flights. I had gotten several texts about the flight being delayed but was in the middle of a 2-hour drive to the Atlanta airport when it was cancelled. So, I wound up driving 700 miles to Fort Lauderdale, arriving at my hotel at around 3:00 am the day of the cruise.

At DFW Airport, I had a flight change from terminal B to terminal C, gate 16. Changed to gate 6, then 22. Boarded the plane at gate 22 & got settled in, then we were told that the plane had been grounded due to a mechanical problem… Finally got on another plane at gate 2 and made it to Miami.

No, but two totally contrasting stories. First: My partner and I showed up for a flight on a 100-seat aircraft that had only 11 paying passengers. We were asked to take the Exit Row seats. We declined. Then we were told to take the Exit Row seats or the flight could not go ahead. Second: I showed up at the airport for my flight one morning ... 24 hours late. I had mistakenly booked myself on a Monday flight when I intended Tuesday, and even when checking-in online I didn't notice. I imagine that the previous morning my name had been announced around the Terminal three or four times as they expected me to board ...
