I’ve used one three times at college mainly just for laminating wood together and veneering.

Never used a good one. Definitely something I would like to have. Tried vacuum storage sacks which are usable but need a lot if watching and topping up.

It’s somewhat out of reach for hobby woodworking at the moment. The value proposition falls off unless you’re making hard-to-clamp items.

I have a vacuum for a pressure pot. I need to look into a bag to try out making a press.

Where is the option for: yes, a few times when I was in college and the wood shop had one?

No, but I did use a microwave to stem bend some homemade laminate for a set of small wooden fenders for a rolling wooden crate style cooler a while back. Put the sheets in a gallon baggie with a damp rag that I used to dampen the wood and just nuked it for 30secs at a time till it got pliable enough to bend a glue up. Didn't take to long.

Is that like putting something in a giant bag and sucking the air out of it? I have no idea what a vacuum press is.
