How do you balance frugality with investing in self-care and personal well-being?

Being frugal is self care for me because following a budget and eliminating debt give me peace of mind. Money can't buy that. ❤

Going for a walk. It clears the mind, gets the body moving and doesn’t cost a cent.

In my country health insurance pays for fitness training 8 weeks two times a year and person. My husband and I have a thermal spa nearby and do water fitness. We can spend some extra time in the spa relaxing and we save also money for hot shower. 😀👍 Besides, we live in a nice rural place and I enjoy walking and biking very much to relax and care for mysel

Self care and personal well-being should never be tied to money. You can, and should, prioritize self care and personal well-being despite the state of your personal finances. It doesn't cost much to create happiness and positivity in your life.

I just take periodic time outs from all duties. Since I hit menopause, I have found that half reclining on the love seat and chilling for awhile (the idea being a soft, cushy surface) fixes a lot of daily issues for me. Such as aches and pains, feeling fatigued, muscle tension and tightness, etc. It’s much more helpful than just sitting upright in a stiff chair or such. Usually about 15 minutes does the trick for me. I also check out mentally when I do the reclining ritual. As they say “veg out.” Lol. A relaxing game or puzzle on my phone or various other brief entertainment. That’s saying a lot for me tho. I used to not even think of taking breaks and just plowed through the entire day rather obsessively and driven like getting stuff done was the only thing that mattered.

I don't, i don't balance anything. I do buy myself a bottle of lotion that is it. There is no time out, haven't even set still long enough to watch a whole movie in years. Always hustling always moving.

Selfcare doesn't mean money. It can be just sit in peace and doodle while you listen to a video or show that you like. Or it can be a cup of tea or coffe and a cookie and cuddle a pet. It can be a walk when you don't rush just look at things around you. It can be repotting your plants or just cut off dead leaves and wipe the rest with a cloth while listening to music that you used to listen to and love when you where young. It can be snuggled up with a blanket reading a book. And so on.

If you are just talking about self-care, not whole life choices, such as your faith, I choose small thinhs to soothe me, like a nice cup of tea, nice smelling bath products (I will mix epsom salts with my favorite body spray or cologne for bath salts.) A walk in a local nature preserve is less expensive than a trip to an exotic place, so you can do this more often. I love going to the zoo with just my husband where we can focus on whay we want to see. There are other times we will go with the grandkids, which is fun, but also work. I don't get a pass, which is expensive. Once every couple ofnyears keeps it special. Reading is another inexpensive form of self care for me.

I pay to go to the chiropractor once a month to keep my back pain free and healthy, so I can work and live comfortably.

I don't. I pray and spend alone time with God. But I can't invest any money in myself. It goes to the kids and rent. I also ship at the food bank and salvation army already.

Do your homework with things like supplements, does one ingredient, type counteract the other? Like in cod liver oil/omega whatever capsules, the cheaper ones can contain seed oils that can inflame joints while the fish oil helps joints, a waste of money. They need to be in date too as they go off. If something helps it's not a waste of money.

I am building a gym with thrifted equipment. $700 treadmill for $90. Walking and weights with Cee (YouTube) have saved the cost of a gym. It’s been 3 months and I’m actually noticing a difference. Herbal remedies are another self care strategy for me. I grow the herbs myself so very little cost. Cooking from scratch meals is another healthy money saver. More beans and less meat helps stretch the budget and adds protein and fiber.
