Fix This Build That

How many different brands of cordless 18v/20v power tools do you own? (different brands, not different tools)

@yoseflugashi9820

Thank God you didn't ask for 12v

I got Dewalt as a raffle prize, so I WAS just going with that. But then I realized that 1) Ryobi has a bunch of weird fun tools more available than the others, and 2) If I don't need a tool to be as high end. I can get a Ryobi for cheaper

All of my 18v tools are a single brand except for one. Milwaukee didn't make a track saw at the time so I purchased a Makita. It's so nice having a single charger for (almost) everything, including 12v since the Milwaukee chargers have both. Any battery works in any tool.

@DragonJujotu

Makita for the pretty stuff, Ryobi for the weird stuff and Hercules to fill any gaps until I need something better

Lots of Ryobi, an old Bosch drill, plus a couple Milwaukee M12 and some corded Makita stuff.

Mainly Dewalt,, but I have a Makita router and recently picked up the milwaukee fuel oscillating fine sander. I love that thing!

All new are milwaukee brushless and whatley battery adapters in the few remaining xrp dewalts that haven't given up the magic smoke yet.

A few ryobi tools that were handed down, but I’ve been switching over to Milwaukee. Ryobis have made good around-the-house tools, tools to let my wife use and abuse, and good loaners to a neighbor

I am actually using a Walmart brand set from Hart. I found a kit for cheap cheap and decided to put it to the test. It replaced a tried and true DeWalt that finally kicked the bucket after 8 years of hard labor.

I have makita 18v as they are the best “rounded” tools available, quality and power. Have all Milwaukee M12 for in the shop as they are again, the best rounded with tools available, size/weight and reasonable power for a 12v system

I got a DeWalt set from a family friend years ago and it's served me well. A shame that DeWalt doesn't make much in the way of yardwork tools, so I ended up with a couple of Craftsman tools from Lowe's. I refuse to buy a third set of 20V tools.

@dcabaddon

O. 12V is my favorite. Tools which benefit from more power are wired ;)

@Donmar21

Milwaukee for all 18v tools. A couple of Ryobi 40v yard tools.

I used to run Ridgid, now I run Milwaukee. I still have some Ridgid tools but not many. And I bought a m18-Ryobi battery adapter so I can use ryobis hot glue gun

I have a basic B&D 20v drill and B&D matrix 20v. Been a few years using them often, still solid.

Pick a battery platform / manufacturer that works for you & go with that. While there are (minor? inconsequential?) differences between each manufacturers tools, they're all decent.

Started out with a Stanley drill/driver kit, then got an Einhell battery trimmer. So now I have a Stanley impact driver (the drill just died recently after about 5 years) and einhell garden tools, a circular saw, a heat gun, a brand new replacement drill... And a diy light. Two 12V led strips in series means each one is pulling 9 or 10V each, so they run fine.

We have lawn equipment in one brand, and power tools in another
