Gonna be honest, I think he meant the original Super Mario Bros. arcade machine because those do exist.

perhaps it refers to those arcades that adapted the super Mario bros, such as super Mario bros versus.

I mean I’d like to give Chris the benefit of the doubt and say he just got mixed up and he meant Super Mario bros the NES game (we all know the one) and just thought of it as an arcade game since arcades at the time of Super Mario Bros were still very popular and common for gaming

He probably meant Super Mario Bros., not the regular Mario Bros

This reminds me of that one actress/singer (i don't remember wich one) who said on a talk show that she loved playing Mario on her Atari, and gamers went ape shit at her, ignoring the fact that there is a Mario Game for Atari

Chris has never touched a single Mario game and was paid to say he's been a fan since birth

It sounded like he didn't rehearse his statement and he had no idea what he was talking about.

I'm disappointed as well, but it's not good spreading hate/adding fuel to the fire either.

He may talk about vs súper Mario bros, for arcade that Is like smb lost levels.

Let's be honest, Chris didn't really play the Mario games. Thankfully I'm brazilian so I get to listen to an excellent brazilian dub in this movie 🗿👍

Yeah. I think he meant Mario Bros. (the 1983 Arcade game), as Super Mario Bros. is an NES game (unless you're talking about it's Arcade counterpart called Vs. Super Mario Bros.)

Its been a hot minute since I played the OG, but don't you have to knock them over then run over them while upturned? Thus stomping on them.

think he meant something like playchoice10's smb but he might have just said arcade instead of nes

Come on, guys. I'm not as into the voice, either. It doesn't sound like his main voice, nor is it close enough to his old cartoon voice (I'm hoping it gears more towards that one as the movie goes on), but I don't feel that's a reason to criticize this guy to the extent he's been. I've been a Mario fan all my life. Literally. Like, we had a SNES with a few of the games before I was even born, and I have been playing them since I was two, it's one of my franchises, and Yoshi and Bowser are my favorite characters, but even I don't know what most of the enemies are called, and a mistake like the one he made there isn't so unforgivable. I played the old arcade one through Super Mario Bros. 3 on Super Mario All Stars for SNES, but it's been so long that I don't even remember how some of it works. Maybe he played that one and the NES one, and got them confused. I wonder how many people played Sonic 1 and 2 at the same time (so, obviously, playing them at a time after they were both released, not as soon as they came out), and mis-remembered the spindash being in both games. It happens. I may not care for the voice for now, but I'm not going to deny that he even played a Mario game, because that just ... doesn't feel fair, honestly. I'm honestly not even familiar with Chris Pratt (or really, any other actors in the revealed cast, outside of Jack Black), but I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Pretty sure once they're knocked over its safe to stomp them the normal way.

Is anyone gonna talk about the fact that Chris Pratt said he loved “stomping koopas” in the original Mario Bros. Arcade game, even though you take damage in that game if you stomp on a koopa from above?
