My sister in law traditionally plays “Carol of the Bells” by Trans-Siberian Orchestra on Thanksgiving night to kick off the Christmas season 😂

In my family the decorations go up about a week or two before Christmas, but we'll be listening to Christmas music from the beginning of December

My family always had a tradition of decorating for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving (instead of shopping lol), but my husband and I usually do it the first week of December. I love autumn, and I like the decor to stay up as long as possible! 😅

I think it depends … like, not a fan of “Christmas everywhere” (or music playing) in a store the day after Halloween but I think it’s legitimate to have the Christmas section up the day after Halloween (not before) because a lot of people like to start their planning and accumulation early. Same with special pricing for gifts. Give me the daily deals, I have a budget to meet. InSIDE personal homes… let it be up to the person or family. I know people who start decorating early because the season is dark and it helps combat the winter blues. I personally do a gradual mix of fall and winter decor in fall so it’s less chaotic to make the switch after Thanksgiving … but my tree typically doesn’t go up until mid-December. Gradually up, gradually down (I switch to a Nordic winter theme in January) so it doesn’t feel chaotic.

I can accept people starting to get festive after Thanksgiving and usually that’s when my mind starts to prepare too. But I really start getting festive in December.

My family has a saying “it’s Christmas everyday” Because of this my parents would just give us any gifts they got us through out the year😅

Christmas decorations and festivities can begin at Black Friday and must be concluded before Valentine’s Day

My family usually starts decorating for Christmas in December. Because my dad doesn't like setting up for Christmas and will put it off for as long as he can.

Hmm, about the beginning of December for us. My Dad’s putting up our Christmas lights (which is just a simple line of lights) sometime this week. Not because it’s Christmas, but also because it’s kinda lights up our home. Our home is kinda dark because we’re underneath trees. and looks rather sad in the dark. Also, was this tab inspired by when I asked you about Christmas 👀

We’ll depends gems. honestly towards the beginning of December for most people and other times the end of November depends on everyone’s feelings and conditions of the weather 🌨

my family is the type that puts up the tree the weekend before Christmas if not on Christmas Eve. The reason for that is because Christmas only starts on Christmas and it lasts 12 days. And after those twelve days we take the tree and the rest of the decorations. Which is convenient because the tree starts looking pretty dead by the end.

Well you know me and how I feel about Autumn… 😏 anyways… ahem, coughs I kind of look at it this way, it’s like the Lotr meme regarding the situation: Uruk Hai (Christmas): breaking down the door Aragorn (Thanksgiving): “How long do you need?!” Theoden (Halloween): “As long as you can give me!” But I do really enjoy the festive season so I compromise with slow jazz and old movies 😊 Also, idk about anyone else, but doesn’t like the “official” marketing season begin with Santa arriving at the end of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parad

Definitely either end of November or early December I love Christmas and all, but there's still Thanksgiving before that and all And a radio station in my state started the 24/7 Christmas music THE DAY AFTER HALLOWEEN O~O WE NEED A BREATHER AT LEAST So yeah, my family has an apparent tradition of putting up the Chrustmas decorations either ON Thanksgiving sometimes, or the following week. But lately, the past several years, my Christmas has been a fare ~50°F! I'm one of those people who would actually like a nice dusting of that freezing white powder just to make it seem extra cozy. Yeah...I'm a little, off, but I don't care. Being in a northern state, well, it does get cold... Eventually. Anyways, I'm done rambling on

Gems of the GAR
I’m curious. In your opinion, when is the proper time to start getting festive for Christmas?
