In your opinion, should people be arrested for minor, non-violent offenses?

@ThreeKeyStudios

it's such a blanket question. no matter the crime, there's always circumstances surrounding it. Definitely need to take everything into consideration

Depends. Stalking can be non-violent, harassment can be non-violent, tax evasion isn’t violent and people get arrested for it all the time (and get pardoned for it if you’re a Chrisley and a Donald D rider)

Depends on what offense we are talking about, shoplifting sure, although on some occasions its easy to see what would motivate someone to steal and you feel bad, but of course to many people do it for no reason and should be punished

@Zilla1998YT

It depends what crime or situation is committed! ☝️

If you break the law, there should be consequences, period. All drug related offenses should carry both jail and a fine, though, if thats what youre talking about as a non violent offense.

Depends on context and frequency. Many people have so many different charges of petty theft and still get off. To quote Genie in regards to those cases 'This guys got a rep sheet as long as my arm'.

100 years ago when i was in high school, places would just ban you from shopping there if you got caught stealing. Schools call the police on students now because teachers dont know how to be the adult and handle these kids, neighbors call over the dumbest stuff... People rely on police way too much.

Nah, at most give them a court summons/ticket like with traffic violations.

Depends on the contecxt! But also if they do it many times in a span of time, they are obviously using that against the system.

@Kara_Teee

are you asking arrest vs citation??

No way, the Blueline gang has way too much power as is. Especially for kids, the graduate high school, or get a equivalent high school diploma, then spend a couple months at best in the academy. Then, out there on the streets harming individuals, obviously not knowing all the laws, making decisions that could potentially destroy your life. I say, no! Teach them to write tickets and send people to the safety of their home, or not, to their loved ones/friends. Whomever. Not behind bars choking up the system.

Police aren’t out here trying to be Dr. Phil. Their role is literally law enforcement. The Courts can figure and sort out the rest.

@ItsMeBarnaby

Yes, but its less about context and more about what the definition of "minor" is.

The laws are their for a reason if you dont like the law then try to get them changed. If you do the crime you do the time. Cops just enforce the law. Courts decide how minor or severe the punishment is. If you dont enforce the laws, then you end up in chaos
