That's going to be a grueling run and well worth seeing the turnout. Good luck to everyone participating!

It was fantastic to witness and encourage the runners. Badwater Ben, Denise and Shelly cheered for all. Well done! The first inaugural Cerro Gordo race! ✅👏

Sounds like an awesome event. I do have one suggestion though: 11:00 seems like a late start to me. If it started just as the sun comes up, you may have a lot less hydration & heat issues for the runners. Just a thought. Thank you for putting on this race. 😊

Can't wait for our video, speaking as one of your armchair viewers! Couple of decades ago I'd've pointed BIGbro your way, but I think that now he's 70-something I'll not... Good Luck to all participants, may the maddest win! 😁👌

Back in 1885 in California, two guys are talking in a bar. Doc : in the future, we don't need horses. We have motorized carriages called automobiles. Jeb : If everybody's got one of these auto-whatsits, does anybody walk or run anymore? Doc : Of course we run. But for recreation. For fun. Jeb : Run for fun? What the hell kind of fun is that? 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

One of the nicest walks. I think you've ever taken life is walking up that mountain. You'll see things that you've never seen for enjoy but if you're good enough run and miss it all.

That’s one gnarly route! I‘m sure it would make for a sick gravel bike race as well. Puke and rally!

If you would just run the course in the opposite direction, I'd sign up! 👍

We’re having a foot race up Cerro Gordo’s historic Yellow Grade Road! The first of what will become an annual event, produced by the amazing event production company Cloth and Flame.
If you’ve ever wanted to put your fitness to the test, now is your chance! This race will begin at the bottom of Cerro Gordo’s road, which is about 3,500 feet in elevation, and end at the deck of our museum, which is close to 8,200 feet in elevation. That’s almost a mile of elevation gain in a race just under 8 miles!
Finish the 8 mile trail run by running through this custom designed tunnel, drawing inspiration from materials and construction of old mine shafts.
At the top of the Cerro Gordo trail, runners will be able to rest and recover at a pop-up recovery lounge. Complete with shaded structures, hammocks, ice tubs and more, runners will have the opportunity to reward themselves with recovery options.
After recovery, we will have a catered event with food and drinks, all produced by the event company Cloth & Flame. There will be a recovery lounge and refreshments along the way.
The winner of this event will have their name forever remembered by being engraved in a silver plaque made from the silver out of the mines of Cerro Gordo.
This is all happening May 27th, 2023. We only have room for a handful of runners, so if you’re interested, sign up now! The race starts at 11am sharp, so be sure to get here a bit early!
