Hello I failed the CPC exam twice and passed on the third try. I used to be a person that gave up on things quickly but after watching laquita videos and other medical coders I just felt more motivated and inspired to try again and plus I was pregnant and wanted to be able to stay at home and provide for my child so he was definitely a great motivator. Just keep watching videos around the exam study on the subjects that you didn't get a good grade on. I now have my CPC and CRC and have about 3 years experience and have been at my current job for about a year now

I didn't pass my CPC exam the first time either. I missed it by 4 points. I was upset, but I knew where I went wrong on the exam and focused on the areas I struggled with the most when studying again. I also purchased the CPC Mometrix course for extra study tips and tricks. The only way you lose is if you give up! So keep your head up, keep working hard, and never second guess yourself. God's got you :)

Hello, I came across your channel one day . I’ve had my CPC-A for two years now. I failed my exam the 1st time by 5 points . I study the practice questions from AAPC everyday and watch videos as well on YouTube. MedicalCodingbyJen on YouTube, and TiKTOk, helped me understand and break down the questions even more . I was well prepared for the exam the 2nd time 12 points higher . Please find her page on YouTube or TikTok. Favorite scripture for me was I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me… Don’t give up keep pushing forward . You can do this !

I failed the CPC 1st try and failed the CCS 3 times. I knew where I went wrong with both exams. However, something told me to take my CCS exam again this month on 1/7/25 and when I went to take the CCS exam the 4th time I PASSED!!! What prepared me was when I bought the Mometrix study guide off Amazon. That book was my saving grace!!! So now I am at the point of just applying to different jobs from Zip Recruiter waiting on a job hit now. I have a couple of potential jobs that might come through. Don’t give up and if you can buy an AAPC study guide if you have not already. Both exams (CCS or CPC) are a challenge but the reward is much more greater at the end.

I missed my first attempt by 2%. Medicalcodingbyjen, pocket prep and several youtube videos helped me. I preferred learning chapter by chapter with pocket prep and related topics on youtube. Jens process of elimination works great. 1-4 hrs study each day.

Hello, I failed the first attempt by 1 point. I went back and added more notes in my book to help me find the answers quicker. Study the practice questions they help you to learn to navigate the code books quicker and more effectively. I passed on the 2nd attempt.

I graduated from my HIM program in 2014. And I was beyond freaking out because I felt that I hadn’t been properly prepared to take the exam. I have two years of taking classes at A community college. It was a lot of information and it was overwhelming and we barely got any real practice. So trying to find a job in a field, where it’s super competitive and they don’t hire you without experience I was losing it, and then there weren’t all these YouTube channels to share information or give insight into the field. Which is why whenever I get an opportunity to share my story, I’m gonna do it. Because we all have different paths to how we actually get that first job. I was reading Facebook forums not just for inspiration but also guidance on where to look for studying for the CPC or the CCS. And everybody had different stories. Some got jobs right out of school. Some were already in the field. So I learned then that I needed to stop thinking that there was only one way to get in. I made a decision if I have to start from the bottom up, then that’s what I’ll do. I studied for the CPC by myself and then I enrolled in the CCO blitz course. Which was a major help in helping me learn my CPT manual. Because again we never got this education for some reason. After thousands of dollars wasted. and when I went to took the test, I failed it by two points. Yes I felt down about it, but I gave myself a few months and decided I could take it as many times as I’d like as long as I can afford it. that helped Take a lot of pressure off. Studied for a few months and went back the second time and I passed it. That was 2016. I landed my first job in 2017 at a teaching hospital. Fast forward to today I’m still at the teaching hospital. And I have coded or learned to code from multiple specialties. Profee. And since then I have gotten 4 more credentials. I think where a lot of us get hung up is that we put so much pressure on ourselves to get it right the first time. Because we want to be done with the studying. hoping that someone will give us an opportunity to expand on what we’ve learned and the field that we’re in. Once you ease off of yourself some, then you realize that the mistakes are part of growth. And this is just your path to getting to where you wanna be. Don’t look at what other people are doing. Because that’s a set up for failure.

Ms. Laquita
I have a big favor to ask of anyone who failed the CPC exam on their first try but succeeded after trying again. If you're comfortable, could you share your story to help motivate others who might be feeling discouraged? I'm currently speaking with someone in this situation who could really use some encouragement and tips. Your story won’t just inspire her, but it could also uplift others going through a similar challenge. Please include where you are now in your medical coding career to show them that there’s so much potential on the other side of this hurdle. I would truly appreciate your help!
