The Cursed Judge

Have you ever once purchased a microtransaction? What was it for, and why?

(I bought the Shroud gun skins in PUBG when those came out, and yes I'm embarrassed about it.)

@tegon_

I picked up the Dr. Disrespect weapon skins in PUBG. Honestly, I'd say that's aged LITTLE worse than your Shroud skins...

Every single one of my TF2 mercenaries is dripped the hell out. Worth it.

After I got dumped following a 5 year relationship, I got addicted to Cookie Run OvenBreak and bought some microtransactions to get some skins, as well as dedicating my time to acing all of the trials. I’ve since deleted the game because I don’t have space on my phone but man was it a rough time. I’d stay up late crying and playing the funny little cookie game because I couldn’t bear to sleep alone.

I got two houses in ESO — Kushalit Sanctuary and the forgotten Dark Brotherhood lair for my lost Dagoth son of a character. Spent a lot of time building hidden camps deep in those lots and decorating surrounding nature/interiors like picturesque places to walk and watch. Never regretted any of this, though it was quite a chunk of my income back then.

Once when I was a kid I bought $7 worth of hints on a mobile puzzle game by accident lmao

I buy cosmetics in Don't Starve Together. Not all of them, but I am a Webber main and adore dressing him up in roses or his little snowball outfit. It's just the little things that bring you joy, yknow? They're a cute little guy To my knowledge, this is the only microtransaction I have ever indulged in

I’ve spent hundreds on Fortnite now that I think about it but honestly I don’t regret it the battle passes in the first season were what made the game worth coming back for without friends

I begged my parents for pretty much every burnout paradise car as a kid. They had these rare "toy" cars that were half the size of a regular car, which I thought was the coolest thing to ever exist for some reason.

Horse armor. I thought it looked cool. Now I wish I had a time machine…

When I was 18 I bought like $150 of overwatch loot boxes. Game used to be good, and I had nothing better to spend my money on. Then, I spent around $100 or so on Alchemy Stars. The last $50 of which was what broke me from playing that game anymore as I spent it “by accident” thinking I’d only spend $10, failing the roll, and buying in on the next 10, and another 10, realizing I was over halfway to the pity so I knew I was going to pay 10 more, and finally 10 more for the pity reward, and I realized it was a problem. It wasn’t just the money I wasted, but the time, and the self-respect. I was at a low-point in my life, but money wasn’t a huge issue. knowing that I fell for the game’s trick is what hurt, and after that wake-up, I realized how much of my mind was eaten up by the routine. The problem with a “good” gacha game is that you HAVE to play it EVERY day, often twice a day, or for at least 15-30 minutes to literally even COLLECT all of your daily/weekly/monthly rewards, and use your daily dungeon, boss, and arena tickets, or whatever that game has, before you can even play the “regular” part of the game. The GOOD part of the game. The story of those characters that they want you hooked to. Nikke had me for a month and I realized it was doing that to me again and I dropped it before it got too bad. I liked the game, but eventually it was less about the game and more about the daily rewards, so I had to stop. Feel free to use this in a video if you’d like. I’m also open to further questions.

I legit paid for a Shark Card for GTAO before, and quickly spent it on a high rise. Nowadays, the Diamond Casino is my best friend.

I have bought only a couple. For me, I think of it as, "thank you for making the game that I play all the time, here's $5". I get some dope stuff, and they get $5. But it is never about paying to skip time, power level, or avoiding some annoying mechanics. If they don't make a good game, they don't get my money.

I played Planetside 2 religiously for a while and during that time I bought one booster pack because a game that fun had earned at least that much support from me. I think it was like $5 and honestly I probably should have supported that game even more than that. It truly was a supremely enjoyable game. That is also the only time I have ever bought a micro transaction.

i honestly dont even know how much ive even spent on cats and soup. its a mobile cat game. i havent spent money on it in a year, but a couple years ago i spent like 5-10 bucks on it every monthly update. the only thing thst reassures me about it is that the devs seem really passionate about their community lol

I used to buy a lot of song packs in mobile rhythm games, and I don't regret those a whole lot although I do think they were overpriced. My most embarrassing microtransaction was actually buying a pack of gems in clash of clans when i was in 6th grade. Never forgetting that one.

Back when I still played GTA5, I would occasionally buy some of the smaller denominations of shark cards. Nowadays, the closest thing you can call microtransactions that I buy are swimsuit DLCs for Atelier games.

Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 - I bought the Twilight Chomper DLC. Because I couldn't get the Unicorn Chomper.
