Tina Jäckel

📝 this week´s jazz guitar coffee club episode is all about how we spend our time when we actually sit down to practice.

. one thing that’s been helping me lately: dividing the session into small sections. not strict rules — just gentle containers. maybe 5–10 minutes to warm up. then a block for technique. then something open, like improvisation. and a little time at the end taking the time to reflect and jotting my thoughts down in my practice journal.

. giving each part of the session a little space helps me stay present. otherwise i tend to loop the same thing for 40 minutes and come out not knowing what i did.

. it’s not about control — it’s about clarity. when i know where the time is going, i feel more grounded. even when the session is messy or short.

. and then there’s the reflection part. i didn’t use to do it. but now i see that even a quick note — what worked, what felt off, one thing to try next — makes a difference. it’s like practicing awareness, not just guitar.

. this practice journal ( you can download a one page PDF below) is a small tool, but it holds space for all of that. warm-up. technique. improvisation. a bit of chaos. and a place to write it down.

. no right way to use it — just try it, adapt it, and see what shows up for you.
