Ah, you were lucky to have plastic sticks! We just have painted lines. And we were thankful for that paint! :) (shades of Monty Python skits here)

I just moved to Riverdale as a UofT student. The only way I feel comfortable cycling to campus is taking the long way around where there are actually bike lanes (even if painted), so I mostly end up sticking to the streetcar. I cant believe how many people cycle on roads where there is nothing at all!

In Romania we have bike lanes that are marked on the sidewalks with paint. Some of them even intersect with electrical poles or public benches.

The most my city does is paint a bike on the road and pretend preexisting sidewalks are special bike paths

this is how i feel whenever I go back to Budapest, which even has a pretty solid amount of bike lanes. Mind you, I live in Helmond, which is not even very bike friendly (by Dutch standards ofc).

The B1M has made 2 videos about Canada over the past year. One about the tallest building that’s had some dramatic poor planning issues and describes how bad housing is here.. and just recently about the Eglinton Crossing and about the same thing & shows how bad transit is as well. Canada eh.. one of the best places to live., unless you wanna roof over your head and need to get anywhere.

There's a local company that makes bucket bikes and bless their hearts they talk about "getting out and having an adventure" but honestly it's too much adventure if it's not a dedicated paved bike path separated from traffic around here. Not taking the kids to school in 35 mph traffic on a bike, thanks.

What’s sad is that this looks better than Madrid. They’ve become the first capital city to remove existing bike lanes

Wow, this makes bike infrastructure in Sydney look really good, and that definitely isn't Dutch standard lol

Hey laddie, whatcha think of the cities in Poland? I think they could need a rework, 'specially my homecity of Płock. But as long as PiS wins again, things will be fine I guess.

Not Just Bikes
I was reviewing some of my old livestreamed bike rides from Toronto for a video I'm working on and ... WOW ... I had forgotten how bad it was.
Super-narrow bike lanes with giant plastic sticks, swerving around parked cars and patios, bike lanes that just end and send me into traffic ...
I can't believe I ever used to cycle on garbage infrastructure like this. This was hard to watch. 😬
