Sequels, not equals? Bah! This is every bit as good as the first movie, it’s funny, it’s light hearted (mostly) and fun! I like that they take the story (& spidey!) out of the usual settings & the whole thing feels original and a bit different, which is exactly the challenge with making yet another other Spider-Man movie. This is well done, well made, and I think I know why: VILLAIN. The villain is the measure of quality with marvel (& most silly genre movies/kids movies) and what they did with a classic comic character, updating him to make him work in a modern story, while honoring every aspect of the original, was absolutely brilliant. I like this movie, I’m partial to any Spider-Man movie yet I can’t stand any Spider-Man sequel except this one. That’s my unpopular opinion: all the first Spider-Man movies (like with a new actor) are great, and all the sequels are trash, except Hollands sequels. Yes it is flawed (too silly, relies on mediocre supporting cast too much, not wild about the final spider man costume) but overall it’s not bad and has a lot of great qualities that outweigh and make up for the flaws. 7/10
