I'm Kat, I'm running for Congress, and you should too.

Today is the last day of the quarter which, for most politicos, means they need to spam you with as many texts as humanly possible. That's because they have to file a report with the FEC that shows how much money they've raised. Some campaigns even hold off on paying their staff until the deadline passes to make it seem like they have more cash than they do. The reason for this is high-dollar donors, PACs, and corporations use those numbers as a way to judge which candidates they want to invest in.

It's all very stupid.

That's why I don't care what a billionaire thinks of me. We've raised over $300,000 so far and have over 9,000 individual contributions. This is a grassroots campaign and I'm incredibly proud of it. But I do know that a lot of nonprofits and unions still use the FEC reports as a way to decide which candidates to endorse. That's why I don't care about some big number. But I DO care about showing these organizations that we are not only a viable campaign, but one that is going to make major change.

That's why we are aiming to reach 10,000 individual donors by the end of the day. So watch my video, learn the dumb behind-the-scenes BS of fundraising, and if you want to be a part of this movement too, consider donating at www.katforillinois.com/. Even a $1 donation will help us reach our goal!
