BIG respect. Barack Obama famously said the best thing we as young people can do is get involved with politics. Let's hope you and others like you can make a real difference, because Noone in Washington seems to be able to.

I'm not in your state but I gave 5 dollars. I've never contributed to a campaign before but I really believe in you and your message.

Support Kat, elections will continue to not matter if we donβt dump the establishment Dems and GOP whose prime directives are to occupy elected offices.

Thank you for voicing this need. As a former election worker in a Republican state I have been trying to explain this to everyone and get people to run for office. People need to understand.

Just made a donation. I'm real proud of you amd so glad to see you go for it. Yours & my son's generations are going to have to pry this government from the old, white hands still grasping for their relevancy.

I'm 65,working 2 shitty jobs just to make ends meet, and probably won't see a dime of SS after paying in since 14. No pension, no savings, but I can at least write a long comment for the algorithm, and have been a subscriber for quite a while. Kick some ass for us real Americans!

People, it doesnβt matter what party label they use. The point is we need good people in Congress who will actually represent the people. Bernie does what he does as an independent and AOC does what she does as a Democrat. Iβm a recurring donator. Keep up the fight!

You are the first and only political candidate I've donated to because I see this as a test for democracy and I want to be a part of it

I am behind this campaign, but also like that I can now exclaim "FEC reports" and claim it's sensible grown-up politics stuff, and not actually me just telling my boss to do one π

I'm Kat, I'm running for Congress, and you should too.
Today is the last day of the quarter which, for most politicos, means they need to spam you with as many texts as humanly possible. That's because they have to file a report with the FEC that shows how much money they've raised. Some campaigns even hold off on paying their staff until the deadline passes to make it seem like they have more cash than they do. The reason for this is high-dollar donors, PACs, and corporations use those numbers as a way to judge which candidates they want to invest in.
It's all very stupid.
That's why I don't care what a billionaire thinks of me. We've raised over $300,000 so far and have over 9,000 individual contributions. This is a grassroots campaign and I'm incredibly proud of it. But I do know that a lot of nonprofits and unions still use the FEC reports as a way to decide which candidates to endorse. That's why I don't care about some big number. But I DO care about showing these organizations that we are not only a viable campaign, but one that is going to make major change.
That's why we are aiming to reach 10,000 individual donors by the end of the day. So watch my video, learn the dumb behind-the-scenes BS of fundraising, and if you want to be a part of this movement too, consider donating at www.katforillinois.com/. Even a $1 donation will help us reach our goal!
