“He said he believed that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God…”

Pastor Andres Rodriguez serves in the town of Bagaces, Costa Rica. Last year, he and his church set out to put a Bible in every house in their town.

This endeavor was captured in HeartCry’s film “In Every House.” Recently, Andres shared an encouraging update from their ongoing ministry efforts in Bagaces.

He writes:

“A recent visitor to our church is a 17-year-old young man we met while distributing Bibles house to house. After knocking several times at one house and receiving no answer, we moved on to the next.

While we were preaching the gospel there, we saw that someone had arrived at the first house. We went back and knocked again. This time, a young man opened the door.

We asked if we could share a message with him about God and the Bible, and he agreed. We asked if he had ever heard the gospel before, and he said no. He had never attended any church.

As we shared with him, he listened intently. When we asked if he believed what he had heard, he said yes. He said he believed that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that only through faith in Him can one be saved.

He acknowledged his sins and recognized his need for God’s mercy. He did not have a Bible, so we gave him one and invited him to church. The following Lord’s Day, he attended Sunday School and stayed for the worship service. Afterward, he said he wanted to keep coming.

We thank God that He has called us to proclaim the glorious gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory.”

How gracious and merciful is it that God might use people of unclean lips as we to proclaim the most clean and holy and beautiful truth ever; may praises forever adorn the matchless name of Jesus for His perfect nature and work!

My goodness i could use some advice and encouragement from Mr. Washer right about now. God has placed me into a latino church, where my big fancy words dont work. Bareley anyone at church and at work speaks english now and i live in North Carolina! God is preparing me for something i just dont think i can learn the language well enough. Many from my old church and this one have called out an anointing to preach the gospel in me and i fled the safety of the Lord for 2 months. I have since repented and been made aware of how small i am and i praise God for this perspective. But in a different toungue? Ive read James too many times! I know i will be judged more harshly in this calling and i am WORRIED dear family. I only want to see this world bow and the King be glorified. I fear I will get in the way of that because of uncertainty.
