Life Where I'm From

On the X channel we rented a pricey rice cooker to see if it would cook our rice better.

Another great video! This has only confirmed that I want a better rice cooker for my birthday. Our current one was maybe $20 USD? Loved the elders in this video! Always great insight.

Your low end rice cooker is 3 times the price of my rice cooker 😂 Used to have a slightly fancier one but I realised all I ever did with my rice cooker was cook rice...

Americans were going crazy for Insta Pots (electric pressure cookers) a few years back costing a few hundred dollars. They are very similar to budget rice makers (with even rice modes), but oddly none of the brands really offer induction heating, they are all bottom heated. Non-Asian Americans will balk at spending a few hundred on a rice cooker though, because rice isn't a staple of our diet. Long story short, I feel like the rice cooker brands missed out on a ton of money, all they needed to do was slightly change their rice cookers to be bigger, and market them as pressure cookers for all types of food, not just primarily rice.

Nice video Greg! I’ve always wanted one of those nice electronic rice cookers, but my wife still likes her old one that’s nearly falling apart at the seams. Maybe one day.
