It’s extremely hypocritical to point fingers at Korea while ignoring Japan’s own history of war crimes. South Koreans have openly discussed and reflected on what happened during the Vietnam War. Civil groups and individuals have apologized and offered support to victims. Meanwhile, Japan has spent decades denying and whitewashing its brutal actions during World War II — especially the sexual slavery of comfort women, which was a state-sponsored system of abuse. The 2015 agreement was flawed from the start because Japan refused to admit legal responsibility or give a sincere apology. That’s why many victims rejected the money — they wanted justice, not a payoff to stay silent. Claiming the Korean government “stole” the money is just another dishonest excuse to avoid facing the truth. If you truly care about justice and human rights, start by demanding honesty and accountability from your own government first.

During the Vietnam War, South Korean soldiers raped and impregnated many Vietnamese women, but to this day South Korea denies this fact and has never apologized.
