There’s been a lot of “counterfeits are made in the same factories with the same materials” talk lately—especially about Louis Vuitton—and people keep repeating it like it’s fact. So let’s talk about it…

Louis Vuitton bags are made in France, Italy, Spain, and the U.S.—not China.

Yes, some components like zippers might be globally sourced (that’s just how supply chains work), but the bags? The construction? The final assembly? That all happens in Louis Vuitton workshops under their own standards. Period.

Now, if you wanna talk about quality control issues at the Texas facility? Fair. That’s a real conversation. But saying counterfeits are the same? Please be serious.

No shade if replicas are your thing—but it’s not the same. Not the same legacy, not the same experience. Authentic bags come with brand accountability, warranties, and resale value. And that’s just facts.

I’m just sharing what I know—no judgment, no shade. At the end of the day, do what works for you!

Thank you sis! I said the same thing because there are people literally trying to down people who buy luxury out the stores. The killing part also is that those who can afford luxury are being called stupid or have low self esteem or whatever 😑 because they can supposedly get the same thing overseas, but yet are trying to get the exact same bag they are making fun of us for buying in the first place. My thing is everything we buy is overpriced because we have a greedy government. I feel like china is just trying to make their coins 🤣🤣😂 because of these ridiculous tariffs imposed by trump 🙄 and they still need their coins like everyone else but i digress 🤷

Thank you. Someone had to say it. This discourse is getting ridiculous.

I get what you are saying but I remember back in the 70's when they had some concerns of luxury brands being made in China and in some cases proven true. This is why I tell folks, luxury is how you see it. These companies will Never tell the truth because they value money and illusion. At the end, Your Health is the real luxury and it is what it is.

@TheCompletedLook

I agree with everything you said! The narrative has been twisted because ain’t no way when you see the quality of the replicas even in pictures it doesn’t give authentic smh 🤦🏾‍

Sis! This definitely is sparking so many. I honestly believe that none of us will know the truth behind what really goes on. I do know that when we purchase luxury, we are purchasing the label along with the things that come with the item being authentic. What I hope would be and what actually is may not be. All we can do is do our due diligence in ensuring what we purchase is authentic. I have and will purchase mirror quality bags "IF" I am on the fence about the bag. Many times, this has turned out to be a great thing, other times not so much. I am not ashamed of purchasing and will openly disclose what I am carrying. While I don't own many those that I do own.....let's just say you would really have to know what you are looking at to distinguish a difference. I would like to believe these companies are not participating in the production of their own replicas, but at the end of the day everyone is out to make a dollar. I really love several of the luxury brands, but you know COACH has my heart. I have and will continue to purchase luxury, but it needs to make sense for me to do it.

That part! There’s so many TikTok‘s about people going around like oh I told you so with their collection of their poor quality fakes that look horrible like I know there’s some that look more real, but it’s not the same quality it’s not being made at the same place and they really think it’s the exact same thing When it is clearly not!

@claudiacervantes5379

100% agree! There are a couple of brands that come to mind that make some of their bags in China but the majority are made in different parts of Europe. These videos about the bags being made in China like LV, Chanel or Hermes are just gaslighting you into believing their bags are just as good. They are not and never will be for all the reasons you mentioned. And let’s not forget that you can go to an Hermes factory and see the artisans making the bags. A bag that takes on average 40 hours to make by one artisan!!! Anyone who believes brands like Hermes are making their bags in china is delusional. Wish people would stop trying to make those of us who enjoy spending OUR money on luxury like it’s a crime or something. Like you said… if a rep is their jam that’s fine. But stop pretending it’s the same. Cause it’s not.

I agree sis. I'm not gonna lie tho it is getting difficult for me to believe that some part of the manufacturing process for these brands does not occur in China. The fakes resemble the authentic too much (with inferior materials and leathers) and it correlates directly with the decline in quality of authentic goods. Fakes also be coming out as soon as the authentic ones drop so it isn't a matter of just buying the authentic and copying the design. I could very well believe there are reputable Chinese factories under STRICT NDAs with luxury brands that produce authentic goods at a certain percentage with the rest assembled in France, Italy, Spain, U.S. etc. Moreover, these factories could have rogue workers selling inventory/specs to the rep factories or they could be outright working with them. Trademark/laws/IP infringement isn't strong over there so who knows what is going on.

I don’t equate made in China as poor quality. I like tech and prefer to spend thousands on tech vs. handbags. Some of my most used gaming and productivity tech is made from a small mom and pop company from China. Made in China, to me, is not synonymous with poor quality. They are kings of manufacturing. Made in America, however, is concerning. These capitalist brands don’t deserve the grace and defense luxury YouTube is giving. We are talking about plastic coated canvas and dead animal skin, marked up significantly. Is not hard to believe the artisans are Chinese nor that the materials are sourced from China.

I've been dropping down comments even before this issue when YTers say fakes look the same. It is not! I used to say that too before I have OG bec people keep saying it and I didn't even own one🤣. When I reach the stage where I can buy lux, shame on me shame! Now, I am not saying lux houses are perfect but fakes leaves a bad taste in the mouth uugghh! They stink like cheap plastic, peel,cheaply made inner linings and just disintegrate as you use it and nobody to complain to. Better buy dupes. The hate on lux lovers certainly comes from, ignorance and jealousy on money spent that's not even theirs🤣. And hey, don't believe everything what TikTok or the Chinese say. They are the biggest consumer of luxury, if fakes and OG came out of the same factory, no need for them to crowd Paris and Roma just to get their dream bag. US lux consumers are only around 25

These luxury brands need to show where they make their bags so they can put a stop to China saying they are making their bags. I don't wear fake bags or replica bags. I buy the real thing from Thift Stores, Ebay, Poshmark, and the outlet stores. I would rather spend my money in properties and other things that would benefit my family in the long term.
