Not a bad feature honestly. If creators abuse it they'll get their notifications muted but if it's a good "I recommend this video" note then I'm happy to see it. I'd rather get curated recs from a source I've subscribed to than from the algorithm. I've subbed to similar things on other platforms just to get good vetted recs so there's a space for a channel/creator that's even ONLY recommending content. It won't make money but that's not my concern with what I like.

That's weird because YouTube used to work like this where you could see what people you were subscribed to favorited and rated and everyone was pissed when they removed it.

Weird feature.. first time I've seen it. It's a good way to spread messages, but not if it isn't a manual choice. Otherwise, making community posts talking about these collaborations is the way to go (as not to annoy people).

If subscribers had any way to opt out of it, it would be fine. The feature has just been implemented half-assedly, and I know for one I don’t wanna see videos in my subscription feed I’m not subscribed to.

It isn't your fault, it's YouTube's for it's predictable short-sightedness when rolling out new features half-assed. Maybe throw a highlight on the vid in your feed and a label letting you know who collab'd it, basic stuff like that YouTube. Don't feel bad at all. It's not that big of a deal and I hope the feature can be used more smoothly in the future.

So we're at the part of the grift cycle where YouTubers who claimed it totalky wasn't theft to post footage from games despite developers saying how it lowered sales when people could watchbthe game for free, are now crying about other people using some of that footage they posted, huh.

I've seen a couple of odd comments, so, yes, I'm testing the "collab" feature YouTube just rolled out. Unlikely to happen again because most things only need saying once, and to be clear: sorry if you don't like seeing people you're not subscribed to in your sub box. I did not know the full implications of the feature. I was going to be in the video with a segment, but I really don't have a lot of time irl these days.
Anyway, the person in question isn't just sampling footage, but crafting whole frankenstein videos out of stolen footage, and that's why we're bringing attention to it. Thank you for valuing actual creators.
