Tbf, Thrax existed way before HTTYD was even a thing ( Osmosis Jones was made in 2001, while the HTTYD book was released in 2003. Then, the movie adaptation in 2010) And little fun fact for you, the Red Death wasn't supposed to be red. In the book, it's called the Green Death, but for some unknown reason, they changed it to the Red Death for the movie, despite it being the same dragon. And, of course, Thrax is more evil. He's a goddamn virus, while R. Death is an animal. Thrax could take down the R. Death depending on what virus he is and how strong/ resistant he is.

The Red Death didn’t really do much, it just ate a few dragons and tried to attack a bunch of Vikings who were invading her home.

Metal Raptor (or La Griffe)
I'm gonna be honest... The "Red Death" nickname fits Thrax more than the dragon in HTTYD 1.
1. The dragon in HTTYD isn't even red, it's greyish blue-green with, sure, some red spikes but Thrax is PURE red.
2. I'm gonna be bluntly honest again, Red Death wasn't really that much of a terror to be honest, just being a queen-bee in a hive without doing anything itself.
Thrax, on the other hand, not only, he killed 23 humans (Seen in his chain or bracelet) but he also killed hextillions of cells and much more AND he didn't even need a henchman to do the job for him.

Thrax earns the Red Death nickname deservedly, it's not because he's small that it means he can't hurt you, justly, it makes things worse... You never know if he's nearby or not.
I swear if Thrax didn't fall into the alcohol beaker, he'll be an unstoppable menace eradicating humanity or even all life on Earth.
