The common denominator between these two shows, is the quality of writing. Neither show writes about female Mary-sues, with Father-hate issues. They both have writers who actually read. And know what a proper Hero's journey is supposed to entail. They both recognized that some broken people in this world, who have done wrong. Only deserve Redemption, if they're willing to work for it. And most importantly. That there's evil people this world, that can never truly be redeemed. And those evil people efforts, have to be extinguished for the betterment of all. I personally can no longer trust stories about evil becoming good and vice versa. There's players at work, trying to confuse the masses. On the very definition, of what it means to morally good. With the morally grey. Avatar:The Last Airbender was co-opted by woke people who wanted to exclusively see strong women. But Avatar TLA already had that. When Legend of Korra came and went. What were left with? A avatar who was lesbian. Who had friendzoned a good man. By disrupting the strong bond, of two brothers. Even though one was already taken. Setting a bad example, for girls who would soon become women, everywhere. Only to follow-up that up, by stealing the love of not just one woman, but a man as well. That's two people wronged, who once wanted to be together. Another terrible example, for how woman should conduct herself. That's a supposedly good character, doing morally grey and multiple outright wrong, things. A Avatar who had allowed herself, to be severed from her connection, to all previous Avatars. These teaches viewers, that past doesn't matter. (Now they did save themselves with the first Avatar story. But still...)Losing out on centuries of wisdom. In a ever evolving world, in dire need of it. Is still devastating. Now tbf, they wrote her, to be the opposite of a mary-sue. Somewhat. But one could see that her hero's journey, had been corrupted. By outside ideologies, never introduced in the original series. The fact that we never learn, who Toph ended up with. Is a mystery, that shouldn't have ever been. It's another bad example. A child not knowing their father. Should never be a thing. And the fatherlessness, in one character's life, lead to fascist dictator in the story.
