Hey everyone! I've got a little (well, kind of big) update for you all!
Last year, I started building a brand-new office intended to become my YouTube Studio. However, after losing Casper, my brother, and dealing with various family matters, creating content was understandably the last thing on my mind. Sitting in front of a camera just didn't feel right.
Thankfully, I've slowly started getting back into making videos and content again. It's honestly amazing—and heart-warming—to see so many of you still here and to welcome plenty of new faces too 😁. I did put together a video briefly touching on some these points (you can watch it here if you're curious: https://youtu.be/47Vr_HT_U5Y). At the time of filming that video, I was finally settling into the new studio, ready and eager to get going.
During my hiatus, I dove into the world of 3D modelling, drawing, and lots (and lots!) of 3D printing. I actually did Graphics, Vision and Game Design as my degree so it's always nice to be doing some form of software-y, design-type thing. That passion quickly turned into a small business where I've been creating custom requests, selling licensed models, and exploring all kinds of creative projects. Things escalated rapidly—Christmas was absolutely wild!—and before I knew it, my new studio turned into a bustling workshop filled with printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, and everything else you can imagine. As you can guess, having a studio/workshop combo presented challenges like heat, noise, and microplastics flying everywhere!
So, I actually decided to move my recording setup back to the original office space (long-time viewers might recognize the old backdrop!). Rachel was thrilled as you can imagine 🙈😂. Now, the workshop is its own dedicated space—more of an outdoor creative tech haven that I genuinely love spending time in. You'll definitely be seeing plenty more of it in upcoming videos and posts.
Speaking of which, some of you have already subscribed to my (currently very empty 😂) second channel, PrintedByMark: youtube.com/@PrintedByMark. This channel will exclusively feature workshop-style content—think 3D printers, lasers, DIY projects, tutorials, designs, and all that good stuff. This separation lets me keep my smart home, tech, and Home Assistant viewers happy, while giving me the freedom to experiment and create in new, slightly janky ways (you know me 😂). The content will be different to the normal MWT style of things, but I think that's okay.
I've always loved the quote, "Until It's Done, Tell None"—a bit ironic, considering my excitement had me announcing things way before they were actually ready! 😂 If you've been wondering about updates or future plans, rest assured: more is coming soon... once the workshop is tidy and camera-ready!
In the meantime, if you're curious about what's next on this channel, definitely check out the linked video above. As we've established I like to pre announce and there's definitely some pre announcements in that one 😂.
If you've read this far, you're a legend—drop this post a like 👍🏻!
Finally, a huge thank you to every single person who's engaged with the content, sent messages, or checked in over the past few months. Your support means the world to me.
