I loved putting this one together - The Clash were billed as "The Only Band That Matters" and are staples of British punk rock, even if they often played other genres of music as well. Their first album is raw and beautiful in so many ways. Give 'Em Enough Rope is a favorite for many and a great follow-up album. And then their third record is their most known - London Calling; It's often said it doesn't have a single bad song on it and really flaunts their ability to switch up genres. Every album after that is a bit experimental and gets a little more toward New Wave, but fans who spend some time with those records often come out of it with them as their new favorites. Their final album, Cut The Crap, is generally not well received due to poor mixing and too much 80s synth - a big departure from their earlier work. Joe Strummer is beloved by many, a punk rock icon who fought for peace and the working class, and dearly missed since his death in 2002.
