I would say a "first look" is just that. It may not be "fair to the game" but then, it doesn't have to be. So long as you give legitimate first impressions (no doctoring footage of purposefully painting it in a positive/negative light), I'd say the video accomplished exactly that. As someone who dipped their toe into the Gacha genre with Marvel Strike Force, jumped in the pool with FGO and started doing backwards dives into the deep end with Epic 7...Gacha experiences can be incredibly varied. How they present themselves at first is what will either pull you in or let you know " that's just not for me" (as you stated). I personally appreciate you taking the time to check different Gachas out. Neural Cloud was one I was interested in but after watching your video, I decided to pass. I'll try it one day, but for now I know that it wouldn't be something that would grab me initially like, say, Dislyte did. Doesn't make Neural Cloud a bad game...just means it's a bit complicated/busy and would require a longer time commitment than, "I like that waifu." No apologies necessary Mango, you're doing fine!

I like the style of your videos because I feel like you are actually trying to have fun instead of just uploading content for the sake of YouTube, but I also consider you a reliable source of information so specifically in the last video I didn't get the information I was looking for but I still had fun. I think the frustration ppl felt was similar as to when you are excited to show a friend a movie you like but they fall asleep 5 minutes in and then wake up complaining that they don't understand anything lol. But I get it, when you feel it, you feel and if you don't, what are you gonna do?🤷

Ya I get what you mean, as playing a good amount of games that you, I most certainly know what you mean. I mean for games like one maybe making a slight difference on it would probably be over all better, up to you though man. I tend to enjoy and watch most of them, even the sponsored ones lol.

I mean I do see both sides although I don't mind as much. People have their way of reviewing anything and sometimes the tutorial is useless since many games will either have the same gameplay or you will just already know what to do. I played the JP version of the konosuba gacha a long time ago and despite not knowing what anything says I already mostly knew where to go and what button does because I already know the layout of gachas. But at the same time if you skip most if not all dialogue bubbles, you WILL get confused both story and gameplay wise. I mainly suggest to heavily remind everyone of how you review if you end up not changing things. Just to clear the air for future videos. But personally I say to try to do some minor research on the game before doing anything (Like the gameplay or at least name....) to better prepare mentally just in case. Otherwise your normal quick first look style is fine but I say just try to at least skim through the gameplay dialogue I guess.

A few thoughts: Gacha fans can be toxic. I'm a day 1 E7 player and I still get roasted constantly for not remembering slide 6 in chapter 2-3 where Ras states he prefers Muenster cheese over Swiss. 2. 90% of gacha games are all the same and treat you like you've never seen a type advantage or battled before. It gets annoying and tedious. 3. My kids skip dialogue in games and it frustrates the hell out of me when they ask questions later, but that's how some people play. As someone with no skin in the Neural Cloud game, I feel like you crossed some fans maybe, but that's not hard to do and people (like myself at least) watch Mango because we like Mango, goofs and all. Take another pass if you don't feel like you gave it a fair shake but don't take it personally.

Ngl, sometimes they look like you r being forced to do something you don't like. I think it was the same way with PTN where you ignore everything then later question why something is so. Neural was just the most recent victim. It doesn't do the games any favors nor does it seem fair. At the very least, a first impressions should in my opinion have you put in the bare minimum effort to at least understand basic game mechanics. Just my 2 cents. I watch lazypeon, he does first impressions in a fair way for even games he is not into. Check him out if you got the time.

I like the way you do these videos though I understand that it doesn't make a lot of sense for you to spend a bunch of time off screen to do a more in depth review.

Mango Seven
Let's talk about my 'First Look' style videos and specifically my recent Neural Cloud video.
My general theme for them has always been a 8-15minute video where I get a simple look at the game basics, how the story is told, voices, sounds, basic mechanics, visuals, etc. I generally go from the very start until the usual 10-15minutes into a gacha where you get to do your first summons.
This works decently well and can usually at least be entertaining. When I do these sorts of videos I am doing so knowing it's not always a fair look at the game but it's how I would approach most gachas normally so it's how I have been doing it. I'll generally decide if I want to actually play the game in these 10-15minutes and then decide if I want to go back and personally watch the story afterwards. I can tell almost immediately whether or not a game is 'for me'.
That said, this just does not seem to work with specific games. Neural Cloud is a massive example of this, the game absolutely did not get a fair trial due to how much was thrown at you and how much was going on right out of the gates. Most gachas have a huge percent similarities where the tutorials are like 'hey you can use water to beat fire and then you can use your special ability' but this was not the case here. I thought about just not releasing the video but after rewatching it I figured it'd still be entertaining for people.
Should I change how I do my First Looks? Expanding on them is always an option but the time restraints are massive. A quick and fun 'first look' might take me twenty minutes where I have a lot of personal fun and if the game is enjoyable I generally do a followup video. If I was to expand on Neural Cloud it would have likely taken me days to really get into the game enough to give a thought out and semi-accurate video where it's possible a large portion of the time I am not enjoying it whatsoever.
Basically, I'm just writing this to both apologize and ask for some feedback.
I am not sure what to do.
Thanks <3
